How I found "My One"

I met Justin at a college party in Tallahassee, where we both were students attending FSU. Definitely not the place I would've ever thought to meet my future husband, but it's so true that true love happens when you least expect it.

We were in our final year at FSU and graduation was just a couple months away. I had recently had my heart broken from a two year relationship, so the last thing I was looking for was a boyfriend. Then Justin caught my eye. He was handsome and tall (most guys I dated were slightly taller than me and Justin is 6'4"). He was shy, had a sweet smile and gentle eyes. Kind of funny but when flirting with him I had actually complimented him on having "perfect eyebrows" -- which looking back now I'm like, what the heck was I thinking?! He seriously does have great eyebrows though, and at the time we just laughed about how he admitted to plucking them aka "manscaping" (because they're quite thick and would be bushy caterpillars if he didn't - ha).

It wasn't until a week or so later when I saw him at the same house, different party and I had the sudden urge to just go up and kiss him (something I NEVER did). I'm sure it was the "rebound" feeling of just having my heartbroken and yes, definitely the alcohol. We stood by his truck outside and had our first kiss. Little did I know this would be the beginning of our future together.

From that night on we were inseparable. I remember going on a family vacation out to the west coast not long after meeting Justin. I was gone for almost two weeks and I remember thinking about him the entire time. I couldn't wait to get back to Tallahassee to see him.

After we graduated we both were looking for jobs. Justin landed an internship in Orlando, FL and out of all the jobs I had applied for (from NY and Boston, to Orlando and Jacksonville) I, too landed a job in Orlando, FL. It was meant to be.

Not long after we moved to Orlando we made our relationship official and became boyfriend and girlfriend. I remember feeling like I had found a man I was not only in love with, but a man that was truly my best friend. Every moment spent with him was special.

After 8 months I landed an awesome job in nearby St. Petersburg, FL and I didn't even have to think about whether or not Justin would be moving with me. He told me it didn't matter where we were moving, he was going with me. I knew then that our relationship was the real deal and that I had found "the one". I didn't have to guess or wonder about anything. Everything just felt right with him.

We moved into our first apartment together and 6 months later Justin proposed. I remember it like it was yesterday. The night before the proposal Justin had said he wanted to take me out to lunch the next day. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary. We always went out to eat on the weekends. I was battling a bad cold and sinus infection though, so I was on antibiotics and blowing my nose constantly. I really wasn't in the mood to get out of the house (it was November and pretty chilly too), but he was insistent. We drove to the Pier at downtown St. Pete and as soon as we parked and started walking, Justin made a bee line to a nearby bench. I could tell he was nervous, and I had a feeling it was about to happen. He got on one knee, pulled a ring box from his pocket and proposed -- and of course, I said YES!

We wed in my hometown of Niceville, FL on November 14, 2009.

We bought our first home in Seminole, FL (how perfect that two FSU alums buy a home in Seminole, right?) and we had our first daughter, Courtney on December 6, 2012. A year after, we moved to my hometown of Niceville to raise our family. On January 9, 2015 our second daughter, Bridgett was born.

Our life isn't perfect, by all means, and we've had our ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade my life with Justin for anything. We're truly a team. He's always thinking about the girls and I before himself. He's sensitive and sweet and can make us laugh so hard. I love how goofy he can be! He's extremely supportive of everything I do [heck, I wouldn't have this blog if it wasn't for him -- he's my photographer ;)], he is always building me up, and is an amazing father to our daughters. I couldn't imagine sharing life's daily routines, challenges and pure joys with anyone else.

Speaking of finding "the one" -- have y'all watched MTV's Are You The One yet? They're currently in season 3 and I have to admit, Justin and I love watching and guessing who will end up with who.
