Salon Visit with Avantgarde Aveda

I always get a ton of questions about my hair. How I get it colored, how I style it, the products I use etc. So I’m stoked to share a lot of that with y’all in today’s post.

I’ve been a fan of Aveda salons and products for 8 years now. Not only am I pleased with how my hair is styled at my Aveda salon, but I also love how Aveda products are environmentally friendly and that Aveda gives back to society.

When I lived in St. Petersburg, FL I always had my hair done at the J.Con Salon off of 4th street (if you live in the area, you need to see Andrea Rose she rocks!). Now that I’m back in my hometown of Niceville, FL (going on 3 years now) my go-to salon is Avantgarde Salon (with 2 locations in Destin and one in Niceville). My hairstylist is Amanda Maus and she is THE BOMB! My mom also gets her hair done by Amanda. If you’re in the area and want to check out the salon, def see Amanda! ;)

I seriously look forward to getting my hair done at Avantgarde every month. Not just because I’m freshening up my locks (and that’s even more important when you’re getting photographed weekly), but also because I feel pampered every time I go. The staff is above and beyond when it comes to professionalism and always makes me feel like I’m a priority.

My time at the salon is my total ME TIME. I can disconnect myself from all my life stressors and just relax. I always enjoy chatting it up (and laughing a ton) with my stylist Amanda. It definitely feels like girl time with her. Sometimes my mom even books her appointment around the same time as mine, so it’s extra fun! ;) Amanda always gives me the best scalp and hand massages too – which are SO relaxing and another perk to visiting the salon.

Since I’m so bad about describing the steps Amanda takes to get my blonde locks light and bright, I asked her to give me the full run down. Plus, stylists all have their own language anyways, right? Haha If you want to achieve the same or similar look with your hair, copy the below from my hair stylist, Amanda:
My recent visit was more of a maintenance color. Amanda toned some of the mid-shaft and did balayaged babylights around my face and along my part. Then she applied a moisturizing botanical treatment to my ends while the color was processing (they needed it with all the heat styling I do on a weekly basis). Then she rinsed and toned my hair, followed by a Dry Rememedy Intensive Moisturizing Mask (SO good!). Then she lightly trimmed my ends and point cut the layers and bangs. She applied the Daily Color Protect and Smooth Infusion Nourishing Creme before blow drying and then curled my hair using a 1 inch curling iron with the ‘bend’ technique. The color formula she used: Mid shaft toner – 40 grams 0N + 4g light v/b + 2g light b/b +2g pastel v + 40g crème developer. Highlight – 30g enlightener + 20g 0N + 40g 30 vol Toner at the bowl – 30g 10n + 30g 0N + 4g light v/b + 2g pastel v + 1g pastel b + 60g liquid developer.

Are you a fan of Aveda? I’d love to know in the comments below! Also, feel free to share some of your favorite Aveda products so I can check them out!

Thanks to Aveda for sponsoring today's post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
