How gorg is this silk vintage Escada blouse? Love the floral print and that it's sheer and light weight. Will be perfect to transition into spring and maybe even summer. I just can't get enough of floral prints right now. I've snagged some amazing floral blazers in bright colors while thrifting (promise to post a "Thrift Finds" post soon!). Q&A with Claudia Costantino (Metaluxe Owner/Designer)

1.) Tell us a little about the Metaluxe Jewelry etsy shop.

Well, Metaluxe is a jewelry shop that I opened on Esty that sells all original handcrafted bracelets, necklaces and earrings. All the metal casted components are designed by me, casted in limited edition molds and gold/silver dipped. So, they are unique to my line and you wont find them from anyone else. I like to think of the collection as bright sophisticated fun with a Saint Tropez kind of vibe.

2.) I know you mention in your profile that you've been designing jewelry for 10 plus years, and that you had always dreamed of designing your own line. What made you finally take that leap and start your own shop?

That is a great question! For my entire career of designing costume jewelry, I have been working for various jewelry manufacturers designing private label collections. Which basically means I was employed by a company that sells to specialty store chains such as American Eagle, Express, Guess etc. I would be handed corporate design direction on what to make and I would design for them what they wanted/needed for their stores. I was successful and loved doing that but after years of being employed in that kind of situation, I really wanted to design my own line. My husband was encouraging me. So, I finally decided it was now or never and made a leap of faith! It has been exciting but stressful as well. But you know what they say "You will never know what you can accomplish unless you try!

3.) I love how colorful and fun your jewelry is (especially your bracelets, just perfect arm candy)! Would you say that your own personal style is colorful as well?

Thank you! Yes! Absolutely I love color! I am the biggest fan of J. Crew because they were doing color in a sophisticated way long before it was trending the way it is now. I guess you could say my style is "Glam Prep".. I love to wear a bright turquoise polo shirt with acid green bag! Or neutrals with some bright sparkly bracelets layered up my arm!

4.) What are your top three fave jewelry designers?

Hmm. Lets see. I love Erickson Beamon, Lara Bohinc, and also the Dannijo line is pretty fabulous. All very talented designers that have a very bold point of view. Great mix of elements in their work. You know, its very difficult sometimes when designing jewelry (or any design related area) to say "Ok! that's enough! Do I have too many elements, chain beads etc. going on here on this necklace? Have I gone too far?" There is a fine line between overly designed and a making a beautiful statement. I admire these designers for taking it just far enough.

5.) Do you have any fave shops on etsy?

I have to say I love Deloris Petunia! Great shop! Colorful and fun so of course I relate to that! And I do like some of the vintage handbag shops on Etsy that sell 70's Gucci bags. Love that.

6.) Which piece in your shop is your current fave?

Well, right now I really love the neon bungee wrap bracelets.I wear two together.. neon pink and black. But you know they are like your children, you can't really be objective about who's the fave! :)

7.) What type of girl do you envision wearing your pieces?

Lets see... I would like to think that someone who has an easy way about them. a creative girl that is willing to have a little fun, likes to travel but wants to look fashion forward and glamorous doing it.

8.) Where do you grab inspiration from when designing your jewelry?

I have to say that my inspiration comes from a mixture of things. I love the glamour of the 1970's and the bright color of 1980's. The handcrafted nature of braiding and cording gives my line a modern twist.

9.) If you had to leave the house wearing only one piece of jewelry, which piece would that be?

Definitely my orange chain bracelet. I wear it all the time and that's why I chose it for the givaway! Orange is such a great color and it is everywhere in fashion right now.

10.) Any tips on accessorizing with your jewelry?

I believe in mixing it up and stacking your bracelets for a that customized look. I think it looks refreshing to see someone with a casted bangle, layered with some beaded bracelets, colorful wrap or braided chain all worn together. If your the kind of girl that is a little intimidated by brights, wearing a pop of pink or orange on your wrist is a simple way to introduce color into your life.

Here's an outfit I wore a week ago that somehow slipped through the cracks. Found this neon Lilly tee while thrifting awhile ago and new it would be perfect for the neon craze. I never tire of polka dots (and stripes too!), so this thrifted polka dot skirt gets many wears {you can see a couple other outfits featuring this skirt HERE and HERE).

Just a quick post this morning loves! Decided to snap some photos on Sat. evening right before the hubs and I went out for sushi. As you can see, I decided to transition my Paige Tumble jeans from day to night by swapping the chambray shirt and gladiator sandals for a crisp white blazer and stunning wedges! {if you missed my day-time post, you can see it HERE} Sorry the pics aren't the best! Went for a stroll through the park late afternoon on Saturday. The weather was highly enjoyable over the weekend. In the 70's with a nice cool breeze. I can't get enough of these verdugo skinny jeans in "Tumble" from Paige USA. The print is fantastic! I'm really obsessing over prints of all kinds lately. I've always honed in on prints and bright colors when thrifting, it's just my thing.... but now that everyone is on board and it's a trend -- my radar is on high alert! I've picked up some amazing printed beauties in the last few weeks. I promise to do a "thrift finds" post soon (something I've been meaning to do from the moment I've started my blog, but haven't done it as much as I've wanted). All this print madness has my mind racing with new outfit ideas for mixing prints. I find it challenging but so much fun. After all, fashion should be about experimenting and not taking yourself so seriously, right!?

Hey loves! Happy Friday!! :) I wore this bright and colorful outfit yesterday, and I have to say it cheered a lot of people up. I called this post "Pink Lemonade" because pink and yellow just remind me of a refreshing glass of pink lemonade. 1.) Please tell us a little about the DERNG etsy shop.

The Derng shop is simple: Only Jewelry: Chain Link, Pops of Color, very affordable.

2.) How did you come up with the name "DERNG?"

Derng: (v.) To own it. Be your own boss. Don't let anyone run your life for you. I trademarked the word because I felt so strongly in its meaning. I live my life by Derng.

3.) How long have you been designing jewelry?

I created my first piece 15 years ago. It was a freshwater pearl necklace with a sterling heart toggle as the center piece; it remains in my jewelry box today. I remember getting compliments by adults (I was a teen) and many people asking where I purchased it! I didn't start designing jewelry again until very recently when I realized there was a demand.

4.) What inspires you to create your pieces?

My inspiration comes from regular people. I love to go to Starbucks,drink black coffee, sketch and people watch. People are so real when they think no one is watching.

5.) What are some of your favorite trends right now?

Chain link (obviously), huge rhinestones, and animal jewelry.

6.) What type of girl do you envision wearing your pieces?

A jeans and tee shirt type of girl. My favorite look is jeans, a white v-neck tee, 3-5 Derng bracelets, and The Ellington. Actually, I may go put that on right now!

7.) What's your favorite piece currently in your shop?

The Ellington is my favorite piece. Its combination of gold chain link with larger silver pave chain works well with many multiple pieces. I also love it doubled...chunky is always better!

8.) What are some of your fave jewelry designers, and fave etsy shops?

My inspiration started with Mignon Faget, a famous New Orleans jewelry designer. I also am a huge fan of Lulu Frost and Lauren Elan.

9.) If you had to leave the house in one piece of jewelry, what piece would you choose to wear?

My wedding ring...and at least 3 Derng bracelets.

10.) What makes you feel most beautiful?

You know it's funny, I'm that person that will walk out of the house with wet hair up in a twistband, workout clothes, and jewelry (3 bracelets and my wedding ring) and feel like a million bucks. It's all about attitude, hence DERNG.

11.) Any new pieces we can expect to see in your shop soon?

Quick post today loves! Wore this outfit a couple days ago. I love a great cobalt blue, don't you? This turtleneck was in an instant fave for me. I was glad that FL had some cold temps for a few days because I was able to get some use out of my turtlenecks and knits. Now the weather is back in the high 70's. That means "bye bye tights and sweaters," and "hello bare legs and tees!"

Decided to rock this lovely lace blouse with my fave pair of bell-bottoms yesterday. This vintage lace shirt was another great thrift find -- I snagged it for less than $5. Love the lace detailing on the collar and the wrists.

Looks like the FL weather is going back up to the 70's and leaving the cold behind. It was pretty nice while it lasted. Who knows, perhaps we'll drop down in temps again before the springtime.

Happy Valentines Day sweets! :) I hope everyone is indulging in sweet treats {because I certainly am, thanks to the hubs!}. I wore this outfit a couple weeks ago, I love to mix prints (as you probably know if you follow my blog regularly), but I find it especially fun to mix any print with camo! Camo is that print that most people stay far away from. Camo is tricky because it can look like a costume or uniform, but it can actually look quite nice when styled the right way. As long as something fits you appropriately and is styled right, you can pull basically anything off! It's important to have fun with fashion. There are a lot of fashion rules out there that can discourage anyone, but I think it's most important to wear what you feel comfortable in, and what makes you feel great.

Hey loves! Quick post this morning, as I'm running a tad behind schedule.... wore this outfit over the weekend because FL finally hit some cold temps! (And REALLY cold for us. I'm talkin' 30 degree weather!) This navajo sweater was an in-sane thrift find a couple years ago. Love that it's bright yellow!

I'm not a girl that wears hats most of the time, but some days hats are just where it's at (especially bad hair days or when you don't want to do your hair). The whipping wind didn't help keep this baby on my head though. ;)

Hey loves! I have a great etsy shop to introduce you to, it's called: Strong Point Enterprises. This is one of the most unique shops I've every worked with. At first glance, you might think this shop is just another jewelry shop that specializes in bracelets (or what we like to call "Arm Candy"). However, Strong Point Enterprises is so much more. Their bracelets are made out of Paracord (the stuff that holds people to parachutes when they jump out of air planes), AND this shop donates a portion of their profits to numerous charities. I love a shop that gives back! Check out the interview I did below with one of the members of the Strong Point team.

Q&A w/ Strong Point Enterprises:

1.) Tell us a little about the StrongPoint etsy shop.

The Strong Point Etsy shop sells bracelets, key chains, dog collars, and other things that are made out of military spec type III 550 Paracord (the stuff that holds people to parachutes when they jump out of air planes). It’s extremely handy stuff to have around. It’s made of nylon, is rot resistant, washable, soft, small, easy to pack and can hold 550 pounds of weight.
We decided to start our shop after having some beers with friends. We all come from a variety of active backgrounds (cops, soldiers, triathletes, adventure racers, travelers, etc.) and we were complaining about how hard it was to find a quality piece of outdoor gear that you could rely on when your butt was on the line. So after a few rounds, we got this bright idea to make our own gear. I thought, what better way to start a new company than with what we always packed first, and never left home without: Paracord. We started planning and working the next morning and now here we are!

2.) How did you come up with the name "StrongPoint?" Is there special meaning behind it?

A “strong point” is a position of strength or tactical importance that is well-protected and safe from harm. The heart of our business is making gear that keeps people safe.
While we make our bracelets look as amazing and fashionable as possible, when it comes down to it, if you needed some rope in an emergency, you have 10 feet of it right there on your wrist. So it seemed fitting that we call ourselves Strong Point since what we try to do at the end of the day is keep people safe. Thankfully, most of the “emergencies” that our customers have had to fix with their bracelets have been things like broken bathing suit tops, torn purse straps and broken running shoe laces or staying visible with the reflective bracelets at night.

3.) How long have you been creating your paracord bracelets?

For about seven months.

4.) Bracelets and arm candy of all kinds is extremely on trend right now. What separates your bracelets from others out there?

Other fashionable bracelets are probably just that, fashionable. We try to blend fashion with function. We want our bracelets to look hot, but also be really useful. I just got an email from a lady today who broke a strap on her re-usable grocery bag while walking through a bad neighborhood and she still had four blocks to walk with her groceries. She unraveled her bracelet, used the cord to rig a temporary strap and was able to make it home with her groceries without incident. I don’t think she could have done that with any other kind of arm candy. Our bracelets also stand out because of the outstanding quality of our craftsmanship. Because we also use the bracelets in our daily activities and jobs, if we didn’t put 100% of our abilities into the item, we don’t use it or sell it.

5.) What type of guy or girl do you envision wearing your bracelets?

Everyone! Although our store seems very outdoorsy and athletic, the items are simply awesome looking survival gear. Whether you use it just as arm candy, during your commute to work to fix a broken strap or shoelace or while you’re climbing a mountain or traveling, it works the same for everyone. We also have a variety of bracelets that are made with different colored ribbons in the middle to raise awareness for different issues that affect our society today. For example, we have a bracelet with a pink ribbon in the middle for breast cancer awareness.

6.) I love how StrongPoint gives a portion of the profits to charities. Why do you think it's so important to give back, and what charitable causes has StrongPoint already contributed to?

The most important philosophy that we have, the one that governs every decision that we make as a business, is always doing the right thing no matter what the cost.
It’s a principle that I feel a lot of American businesses have lost these days, but it’s one that really made America great once upon a time. I think that’s something we need to get back.
When the economy went south in 2008, a lot of charities suffered because people couldn’t give as much as they were able to before. A lot of charities that were doing amazing things had to close because they couldn’t get the money they needed to keep going. This doesn’t just mean that there’s one less charity. It means there are real people affected, homeless people who can’t get food or shelter, dogs that starve or women who get abused and now have no where to escape.
From day one we started giving a portion of our profits to charity, even if it meant that we had to work harder and sell more to make money ourselves. Since we opened shop we’ve worked with dog rescues, cancer foundations, and groups that give free care to families with special needs. One of my favorite charities that we’ve worked with was a charity called Coups for Troops (www.coupsfortroops.com) who collects expired coupons and then raises money to ship them to needy military families serving overseas who can use coupons for up to six months past their expiration. They were one of my favorites because they were so innovative.

7.) Which item is your current fave in the shop right now?

My favorite item right now is the one that I’m wearing as I type. It’s our black reflective bracelet. It’s dark out and as soon as I finish working I have to go for a long run and it keeps me safe.

8.) StrongPoint has branched out into key chains and belts. Are there any other designs that StrongPoint is currently working on?

We’re working on dog collars and leashes. Two years ago my girlfriend and I saved a border collie puppy that was on death row at the local pound. Her name is Justice. She’s amazing and we call her the four-legged love of our lives. I really want to start making stuff that she can wear, especially our reflective paracord for when we go for walks.

9.) What are your top three fave etsy shops at the moment?

elizaBcrafts. I ordered some stuff for my mom for Christmas from this shop and their work is outstanding.

10.) Any tips on accessorizing with your bracelets?

My sister and girlfriend offer up this advice, because they are much more fashionable than I am:

Stack a few different colored bracelets at once. The more arm candy the better! Also, bright colors and neons are very hot right now, so our brightly colored bracelets will provide a casual outfit with an awesome POC (Pop of Color, as Brad Goreski would say – any Brad fans out there?). If your outfit is dressier, our bracelets and key fobs are small and will fit into even the tiniest clutch. The extra paracord is really handy to have and you never know when you’ll need it! And we always accessorize our workout gear with reflective bracelets on each wrist to stay safe at night!

Over the weekend, the hubby and I grabbed some dinner downtown and since the weather was amazing, I decided to break out a dress I've been wanting to wear for awhile. This vintage Nicole Miller dress has been in my closet for about a year. It was an awesome thrift find -- cost me under $10! I didn't even have to get it altered (love when that happens)! Really love the asian-inspired look of this dress, reminds me of a "cheongsam" but just a bit more modern. The slit in the front was another plus. Love any dress or skirt with a slit lately. Slits just exude sexiness.

Took a stroll by the beach over the weekend, and grabbed some drinks and lunch with some friends. The weather was amazing -- really made me want to put on my bathing suit and lay out on the beach! The weather in FL was b-e-a-utiful over the weekend... I really think we'll be ready for the beach by the time March hits us {and I'm totally OK with that}. Picked up this lovely floral/red/polka-dotted vintage blouse while thrifting in Seattle last summer. Really love it's retro look and feel, and looks so perfect with a red lip! {Covet Worthy: Valentino Look-Alike For Less}

I have to say, out of all the red carpet dresses I've seen on Kate Hudson, this 2003 Valentino will always reign as supreme -- anyone with me?! The vibrant colors, gorgeous print, and the way it fit Kate like a glove just made it so incredible. I've yet to see anything like it on the red carpet, and I love how unexpected it was for a red carpet event. You can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this Indian Enchantment Dress by Free People. I had to do a double-take! They are beyond similar, and to think you can pick up such a look-alike for a fraction of the cost makes it even more lust worthy.
