Esther uses traditional silversmith techniques to give each piece an antique look. She uses copper, sterling silver, brass, and natural stones to create her organic designs. Q&A with Esther Eve (Designer & Shop Owner)

1.) Tell us a little about E² - Esther Eve Etsy shop.

I intend for my work to have a very armor-like and ancient whimsy, as I am obsessed with medieval and old-world style and culture. I intentionally antique and distress each piece for a timeless rustic feel, and use sterling silver, copper, brass and natural stones for my typical medium. Aside from using traditional silversmith techniques, I love to create organic designs incorporating crafts such as etching, electroforming, enameling, and various patina concepts. Each piece is entirely hand-made in my small home-based studio, currently residing on the Emerald Coast of Florida.

2.) How long have you been creating jewelry?

I had an obsession with seed beads and Indian loom-woven jewelry when I was a young girl, so I guess you could say that I've had the 'bug' for jewelry most of my life. In late 2007 I began my love-affair with metalworking, and the rest is history.

3.) What inspires you to create your pieces?

Finding beauty in the imperfect, literature, Sci-fi, and as you can tell I am a bit of a geek, ancient and medieval armor and jewelry really get me going. Series like HBO's Camelot, and Game of Thrones, are big inspirations due to the marvelous and giant jewelry pieces. I sketch until I have something unique, that I can call my own, and then I move to my workbench to make it a reality. On my journey to discover the perfect combination of medium, inspiration and technique, I am eternally grateful for the ability to use my hands to create original works of art.

4.) I know that you use many different silversmith techniques in creating your jewelry, what is "etching" and "electroforming?"

Etching is pretty much my favorite technique right now, and you can see it in much of my work. In a nutshell, a design is drawn or transferred to a piece of metal using some sort of resist material, then submerged in a chemical solution or a salt-water bath that is powered by a battery of sorts. The chemical/salt-water will eat away at any part of the metal that has not been covered with the resist, and some truly beautiful designs can come from this unique technique. (I totally just rhymed!). I have always hand-drawn my designs because I love the organic texture in the results, but many designers use a graphically created design to achieve more detailed work.

Electroforming is a process of coating an object permanently with a layer of copper, and is typically used to preserve delicate and organic bits of nature such as leaves or insects. The process involves sealing, then painting the object with a conductive paint, submerging it in a chemical solution along with a plain piece of copper (cathode), and connecting it to a rectifier. This transfers the copper from the cathode at a molecular level to the paint covered object. It is fascinating to watch the bits of copper float through the solution, and adhering to the object, drawn by an unseen magnetism. I don't currently have an example of electroforming in my Etsy Shop, as this is something that I am still experimenting with until I achieve a result that I feel comfortable introducing to my customers.

5.) What is your fave metal to work with and why?

Gosh. I will say silver, because it has a certain quality to it that takes my breath away, and the black oxidization that it will take on, to me is gorgeous.

6.) Which piece is your favorite in your shop?

Currently, I would have to say my Warriors Shield Etched Brass Cross Knuckle Ring (no longer available see similar style HERE), as it is quite fabulous to wear, and receives many compliments that make me blush.

7.) How do you describe your own personal style?

Rustic and Earthy, Bold and Bohemian, Ancient and Medieval.

8.) If you had to leave the house wearing only one piece of jewelry, which piece would it be?

A ring, give me a ring, any ring! (Can you tell I'm obsessed!)

How fun is this vintage dress?? It's one of my faves, not only because of the Pucci-esque print, but for the simple fact that it's vintage (and REALLY old at that!). The zipper is old-school and the tag is tinged yellow. I love to find really old vintage pieces. It really makes you wonder the path this garment took, who it belonged to, who loved it as much as I do? It's really soft and fits so well. Although it's still January, FL is experiencing 70 degree weather, so I was not chilly at all while wearing this lil number. However, I am still pale, so please don't judge the non-tanned legs. ;)

A quick post this morning lovelies! Over the weekend I did a little denim on denim action. My outfit was a little "southwest." I Love to pair a white jean w/ a darker denim shirt or chambray shirt. Just gives off an effortless look and is cool and comfy. Oh and I LOVE my vintage boots I scored in New Orleans over the Christmas holiday!! They are uber comfy and are in the best condition. Hey darlings, just a little menswear ensemble I put together last week. Although my outfit was primarily masculine, I just had to put some fun and feminine into it with the polka dotted pink tie! I knew I hung onto this tie for a reason! ;) This Halston blazer was another great thrift find. Can't get over how great it fit me right off the rack -- no alterations needed! Since it had metal magnetic buttons down the front, I preferred the cleaner buttoned-up look over leaving the jacket open. I had this blazer sitting in my closet for over a year, and finally had the idea to do the menswear look with it. As I've said in previous posts of mine, sometimes I just need to let my clothes "marinate" in my closet before I wear them. If I don't have a vision for them, then It's just not time for their moment. :) I hope everyone had a great weekend. FL is back in the high 70's ... beach weather I tell ya. Oh well, the cold was nice while it lasted.

Woo hoo it's finally Friday, and I couldn't be happier! Since this new year has started, I've been nonstop busy... anyone else with me??! Although we've been lucky to have cold (but still mild) temps, mid-week we warmed up enough that I could wear a skirt without tights. I can't stop obsessing over bright colors. Lately, every time I pull an outfit together, I just want to reach for the neon hues to add that extra amazingness to my outfit. It might still be winter, but that's no reason to not add some fabulous colors and prints into your life. Who said winter had to be drab and boring, right? Q&A with Rachel (the owner of Viola Jane Designs)

1.) Please tell us a little about the Viola Jane Designs etsy shop.

Viola Jane is a shop for fun trendy girls who love to be up to date with the latest fashions but with a really handmade, high quality, original edge! I wanted to use a mix of my background in NY, and my life in Tuscany as inspiration. Viola is my middle name (my parents love all things Italian including colors!) and Jane shows my weak spot for English heroines. I thought the name suited the vibe of my shop and my style.

2.) How long have you been creating your designs?

Since I was a little girl I always loved to make fun gifts and accessories for my friends. Once day a few months ago, I was making a flower headpiece with this stunning Italian silk I found for one of my good friends who is getting married next May and she said "why don't you sell these?". I thought it would be just a fun hobby and a nice way to share my creations with others, but now it has turned into a full blown second job (by day I work as a children's clothing and accessories designer).

3.) I see you draw inspiration from your own personal style, as well as where you live (Tuscany, Italy), what type of girl or guy do you envision wearing your pieces?

You know, I just make things that I would love to wear. I would say a girl (or even guy!) that loves big city lights but doesn't mind going home to a quiet country hideaway. Someone that always has style no matter where she is or what she's doing but never really has to try hard. Its just natural!

4.) Collars are such a huge trend right now... why do you love collars so much?

I love collars because they usually have this really preppy vibe (I definitely rocked the school uniform as a kid) but are coming out now as a really edgy/fun alternative to the standard statement necklace.

5.) Which item is currently your fave in your shop?

Right now I am loving the silk and swarovski fabric wrap bracelets. Because being in Tuscany there are SO many amazing fabrics and prints all around me. For accessories, these fantastic fabric looks amazing and is also affordable! I can't wait to show some new accessories for the Spring season in bright pops of color!

6.) What are three must-have accessories that every woman should own?

An amazing pair of heels (being in italy you really appreciate the work that goes behind a quality pair of shoes!), a fabulous bag to hold your backup ballet flats, and a piece of statement jewelry of course - preferrably something from Viola Jane! Italians women are masters at this. They all own amazing classic investment pieces, then personlize it with just the right touch of trendy. Too much and you look like you got lost in your mom's closet, but too little just makes you look blah and boring.

7.) Who are your fave jewerly designers?

My absolute favorite designer sells her jewelry on the sidewalk in Soho (NYC). She hand makes all her brass, silver, and copper jewlery and then paints or does some kind of treatment to the metal tons of fun colors. I think if I was still living in the City I would open a table next to hers on the weekend so we could talk jewelry and swap tips!

8.) What is it about Italy that inspires you?

Beauty is so incredibly important to Italians because it is such an important part of their history. Beauty is the first thing they comment about in almost all situations like visiting a new place or meeting a new person. They really see all the little details of style like color, cut, and quality. So even the smallest accessories never get unnoticed.

9.) If you had to sum up your designs in three words, which three would you choose?

Quirky, Fun, Fashionable

10.) Any tips on accessorizing with your pieces?

Collars can seem difficult but they can be worn just like any other statement necklace that we've seen in the past. The principle of styling them are exactly the same. Especially in these hard economic times, a girl can take the same classic LBD or great fittin white t-shirt and get a completely new and on trend look with a collar! All of my collars are made by hand by me, and most are one of a kind! So a girl can get couture without breaking the bank.

In an effort to keep warm, and dress up this new vintage dress, I decided to wear my fave Pendleton jacket in a bright red hue with a bright pop of royal blue in my tights. The sunnies give it a modern, but still retro feel. One thing I love to do is cover a bag or jacket in vintage pins. It really gives it a different look, and I always get tons of compliments when I wear it like this. Although the blue tights are a little 'out-there,' bright colors are contagious right now and these tights have been sitting in my closet for awhile... why not give them some love? Beats the same old black tights, don't you think??

Hey loves, happy -almost- Friday! One of my fave prints is snakeskin, and I picked this lovely pencil skirt up at our H&M before Thanksgiving. I finally took it out of hiding in my closet, and styled it. I often buy things and let them marinate in my closet before I bring them out and wear them... it's just my nature. I won't wear something until I have a full outfit in mind. Although I paired this skirt with a simple black turtleneck, I can't wait to pair it with a bright colored top for that extra wow factor! One of my fave things to do is pair a fun print (plaid, snakeskin, leopard, floral, stripes, polka dots etc.) with a bright color! It's like the best of both worlds! 1.) Tell us a little about The Madison Elizabeth etsy shop.

The Madison Elizabeth etsy shop carries clutches and pouches for everyday life. They are easy to use and style that can be taken from day to night. Each piece in handmade by myself. They are perfect for the on-trend fashionista, and affordable to everyone!

2.) What were your reasons for designing clutches, and what are your goals for your business?

I started seeing this style of clutch in Vogue issues as well as on some of my favorite blogs. Being a DIY-er and a college student on a slim budget, I set out to make my own. Adding the lining was a must! When you open up your clutch or pouch you want it to make you happy, which is just what my signature black and white lining does. Friends and co-workers started asking if I would make them one, so going on etsy was a natural next step. I would love to continue with etsy and expand a bit into some boutiques and shops. I want my customers to experience excellent service!

3.) What separates your clutches from others designers out there at the moment?

Madison Elizabeth clutches are affordable, well made, have a fun lining, and vegan too!

4.) Your clutches are extremely affordable, do you think that's important and do you think it gives you an advantage to other shops charging in the $50 range for their clutches?

Absolutely! I think it is important to be affordable, being on a college budget is a bit fashion challenging at points, but forces me to be creative! I would never sell something that I would not able to afford or want myself.

5.) What is your fave clutch currently in your shop?

That is a hard question! Whenever I make a new color combo it becomes my instant fave! I immediately think of how to style the clutch and how I can fit it into my wardrobe!

6.) Any tips with styling outfits with your clutches?

Madison Elizabeth clutches are very easy to style, because they fit in with so many different silhouettes, fabrics, and colors. They give off the essence of cool and chic without trying too hard. I use my clutch daily, usually I am in boots, a great pair of leggings, and a top, paired with a scarf, a leather jacket, or a utilitarian jacket (We need to bundle up here in the NW, it gets a tad chilly). The clutches are great for going out too! Just the other day my girlfriends and I went out for some dinner and desert. I was wearing a maxi-dress a leather jacket, and some pumps, my clutch completed the outfit!

7.) What are your top three must-have items you keep in your clutch??

I always have one of my small pouches {see HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, & HERE} in my clutch. They are perfect to carry around all the needed extras like lip gloss, floss, band-aids, etc... They also make it easy to switch bags!

Iphone. It does everything I need it to do and has a great camera. I love taking pictures! Whether it’s for inspiration, or of me and my goofy friends.

8.) Who are your fave designers at the moment?

I have so many, it is hard to list them all. I love what Debrah Loyd has done with Kate Spade, and am excited to see the full line of the spring collection in person! Brad Goreski (which I am a huge fan of) has helped collaborate. Working in the Portland store I have seen a couple sneak peaks. My everyday faves are Tory Burch, Missoni, J. Crew (I heart Jenna Lyons) and Marc Jacobs. I love Chanel, I can’t get enough of what Karl Lagerfeld did for spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. I am constantly being inspired, by Zac Posen, Oscar de Larenta, and many more. I could go on and on :)

9.) Where do you see your shop in the next 5 years, and do you plan on designing other pieces (other than clutches)?

Hopefully within the next 6 months I can start expanding more, landing some of Madison Elizabeth clutches into some boutiques and shops. My mind is always wondering and dreaming of what is next. I could go so many different ways. I always want to stay unique and fresh, while staying true to myself and my style.

Hey lovelies! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was spent relaxing, since I was still battling the flu. Luckily I'm feeling a lot better, and only have a slight cough and sore throat {which is A LOT better than I was doing the beginning of last week}. Thx for all the get well wishes, y'all are too sweet! :) Over the weekend, FL temps reached the mid 70's... it felt like beach weather! We went from 40 degree weather up to the 70's... ridiculous. Hey lovelies! I'm still under the weather, but I appreciate all the sweet "get well soon" wishes! :) I'm battling a bad sinus infection, but I have some meds now so I should be getting better soon! Looks like the cold weather here in FL is sticking this week... this morning there was frost covering our lawn! I'm happy to be stuck inside warm and cozy. This was an outfit I wore over the Christmas break. It was a mild day, so I was able to get away with a skirt and no tights. I am in love with my new leather jacket from Asos. It was my b-day gift from the hubby! Another thing I'm loving? These oversized tees from Victorias Secret. Super soft & comfy! The oversized fit is great! Plus, they don't pill! It's so hard to find a great tee that won't pill! Also, I was lucky to snag this cascading white necklace from F21 before it sold out completely. It had sold out online and I was bummed, but luckily the F21 in Destin had two left!! It's sucha great statement piece and to think it was under $20?? Score!

Hey darlings! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday! The hubby and I are still enjoying ourselves in northern FL... enjoying the fam and reminiscing with old friends. Christmas day was joyous and fun, but over all the presents received this year, I am truly thankful for the things we tend to take for granted - - a roof over my head, a loving husband, a job, food to eat, family and friends that love me, and my health. It's easy to get caught up in the materialistic form of Christmas, especially when you're a blogger and you're constantly surrounded by the lust of clothing, shoes, accessories -- etc. etc. etc.!! ;) But it's really nice to step back and realize the real important things in life, and what we should truly be thankful for. I feel enormously blessed and thank God for all that I have.

Just a couple shots of my Birthday dress from last night (sorry for the bad lighting)! I scored this vintage sequin dress while thrifting a few months ago, and I instantly new it had to be my Birthday dress. It's sequined, colorful, and fit me perfectly -- it was a match made in heaven. My Pour La Victoire peach "Edie" wedges matched perfectly as well.

I couldn't wait to share this fabulous etsy shop with all of ya'll. INFINITY by MarinaFINI is an etsy shop filled with jewelry created with crystals and gorgeous stones. The cuffs and the collars are to die for! Each piece is eye-catching and is sure to be a conversation starter.

Q&A with Marina Fini

1.) Please tell us a little about the MarinaFINI etsy shop.

The store ultimately showcases my art in full throttle, all the images you see are my own personal film/styling work, so it really means a lot to me when someone has something good to say about my shop.

But It all started one day when I wanted to sell my clothes from past photo shoots that I photographed/styled for. I sold a few pieces of clothes here and there on etsy and never thought of becoming a jewelry maker or designer until I saw these crystals that changed my life forever. I saw some jewelry by a few designers with crystals and told myself...Hey, i can do that too.. but remixed better!

So I researched for hours, trying to figure out the best way to make something both unique, affordable but most importantly with well made materials. I did a lot of tests, figuring out the most efficient and secure way to attach my materials together, that would be both functional and creative. After having a few sell on etsy with ++ feedback, I decided to go to the next level and got a deal with Planet Blue almost a year ago. Since then, I have been blessed with many business opportunities and exposure into what I love.

2.) How long have you been creating your jewelry?

For about a year and a half, but I have been a jewelry/accessory fiend ever since I can remember. I wanted to embody what I love about the earth, specifically rocks due to my love of rock climbing and having a connection with mother nature. I am a collector of holograms and color changing pieces, so when I discovered these crystals I decided to combine my two loves together. I am a self taught designer, who is emphasizing in Film Production and costume design in college right now and decided to embark on a journey to create a little side business to be a bit more independent. Well the side business has turned into something I never expected and my pieces are now showcased all over the world. I honestly never thought it would turn into anything more than just a small etsy store; most recently I found out the pyramid rings will be showcased and available in the Free People February catalog coming up!

3.) I see that you believe in recycling, have you always been so eco-friendly?

Well I stopped eating red meat when i was in 6th grade, so I guess you could say I had an eco friendly mind set at a young age. I am 22 now and have become very aware of our global and economic down turn. So as a fashion obsessed person I really try to buy things are either fair trade, hand made or used. I think the fashion industry could have a huge turn around if people were more aware of where their clothing came from. I am a huge advocate for fair wages for constructing garments because I know how hard it is to make clothing. That is why I started a business on etsy because I love being apart of a community who thrives off of creating for themselves.

4.) Your pieces are absolutely stunning and very eye-catching... what type of girl or guy do you have in mind when creating your pieces?

I honestly don't target what I create to a certain type of person or audience. I have found that my work can compliment a plethora of styles, all shapes and sizes of people, that are all over the spectrum. The only thing I really try to do, is gear my creations to people who understand the power that is held with what there buying, for example, when someone is looking at my work in person, I tell them to be true to themselves, the crystal that calls to them is a distinct attraction that needs to be mutual, because they hold energy from inside the earth and need to be treasured.

5.) What inspires you when designing your pieces?

I have always had a fascination with african tribes, native american culture, egyptian hieroglyphs and Hinduism, so I stem a lot of inspiration from these amazing cultures and their belief systems. Having traveled a lot when I was younger, I was exposed to a ton of different types of worlds, art and historical monuments in Europe and Israel. This created a gateway into opening my mind to mixing visual elements and mediums together, to come up with what I own stylistically now.

6.) Which item is currently your fave in your shop?

My current fave in the shop is what I call rainbow armor: the neck cuffs and bracelets! They mix a sense of tribalistic future -space- traveler couture that could make someone feel like they could be a warrior princess.

7.) How would you describe your own personal style?

Futuristic MOD Goth... I mix several different aesthetics from history to fuse a visual style that envelopes how i see and feel about the world. Some days i dress in all black with my rainbow quartz neck cuff or ring to make them stand out and other times I will be a rainbow; i really enjoy the contrast of black and rainbow in my wardrobe. Other times I can be monochromatic in my attire, I really love playing around with different concepts when i paint myself others with my clothes.

I get a ton of inspiration from the Mod futuristic era, gothic Renaissance & Victorian, punk and bondage attire as well as the Elizabethan era. I really love drawing from periods that specifically have a huge influence on the evolution of clothing and culture. You can check out my costume/styling work on my fbook page as well to get a feel on my vision!

8.) Any tips on accessorizing with your pieces?

I would say anything works, coming from someone who can go from wearing a ton of hyper neon colors to being a gothic toned dresser, I feel my jewelry can compliment many different styles and aesthetics. But for the new collection of rainbow armor: the neck cuffs and bracelets, I would suggest wearing maxi dresses or flowy fabrics that can make the jewelry stand out. The bolo ties are great with a collared shirt of any kind, its the celestial futuristic cowboy style.

The rings can go with anything, most importantly though, they are a way to protect yourself, not just spiritually speaking; meaning, if your walking home by yourself and someone tries to mess with your physical well being, you have this massive stone on your hand to fight back with. I call it natural crystal weaponry. I really like to empower the people who buy my pieces, giving them a sense of individuality through the earth that cannot be replicated.

9.) If you had to leave the house in a hurry and could only wear one item of jewelry, which item would you choose?

Probably just a ring, because wearing one alone is just enough flare to add to any outfit and a definite eye catcher. I am so used to wearing rings that I feel naked when I don't wear at least one. Clients always tell me that any time they were their crystal ring people ask in excitement and awe... what is that?! People aren't used to seeing raw untouched crystals just slapped onto a hand, everything is usually tumbled down so it is soft and small, but for me I love making jewelry the bigger the better!

10.) Who are your fave jewerly designers?

Trillery - one of my best friends, Suggie, creates such amazing and detailed metal jewelry that is derived from recycled materials. My favorite is the ear-lace she makes, which is connecting chain from ear to ear; she adds different charms that are either one of a kind or vintage to embellish the unique statement. We are also both stylists, who love to collaborate with each other, you can check out the shoot I photographed with her on my website.

Pamela Love- I love how pamela takes it to the next level in terms of making everything super bold and big! I own one of her large pentagram earrings and it looks like I am wearing gigantic tribal hoops.

Kimono Sleeve Sweater.

I have been on the hunt for a vintage poncho or cape for awhile, and the thrifting angels just haven't been on my side... but I found this vintage kimono sleeve sweater a couple weeks ago and fell in love. The big sleeves and front/back v-neck really gives off the look of a poncho, but allows for a more comfortable fit than an actual poncho. I felt the design of the knit really resembled a Missoni print too! I'm so glad I found this sweater, but I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed for a vintage poncho or cape! ;)

Over the weekend I went for a classic prep look with my thrifted Ralph Lauren blazer (one of my best finds yet!) and my riding boots. Love the look of a belted blazer... just pulls the look together so nicely. This Forever 21 pumpkin spice cable knit has become one of my fave sweaters in my closet... the color is so fantastic.

How's everyone's holiday shopping coming along? I have a few more gifts to get and then I am all done! The only things left to do next week is bake some cookies and pack for our trip home to Destin! Cannot WAIT to go home for the holidays... and I'm praying for colder weather because we certainly aren't getting it here. Oh, btw... next week is my Birthday (Dec. 22nd)! :) Can't wait to show ya'll my Birthday dress! xo!

Last week, FL had their first cold snap... and I mean COLD. Although it caught me off guard, I couldn't wait to walk outside in my faux fur coat. I rarely get to wear my furs in FL because our cold weather doesn't last. Well, that's exactly what happened because now we're back in the 70's. Hoping that our cold weather comes back with a quickness because I am so over the warmth, and so ready to wear all my sweaters and coats.

Wore this outfit out to dinner w/ the hubs over the weekend. I wanted an outfit that was comfortable, but still had some edge. You can't go wrong with zippers on denim... love them on the hip, or at the ankle! Decided to don zippers on my feet and my tank too, why not? This pair of jeans from Paige is one of my fave pairs of denim that I own... the fit is perfection {check out my review of them on Denimology HERE}. I hope ya'll are having a great week so far! xo!

I felt like a 50's vixen while wearing this vintage number over the weekend. Love a pencil skirt, especially when it's super long and high-wasited. This skirt is wool, so it will keep me warm through the cold winter months. Love love love this vintage beaded cardi too... it was a thrift find of mine about a year ago and I still can't believe someone would want to get rid of it... it's in pristine condition.

I hope ya'll had a great weekend. The hubby and I decorated our home into a winter wonderland, picked out our Christmas tree, and did a little Christmas shopping. Both of our Birthday's are in the month of Decemeber (hubby's the 2nd and mine the 22nd), so naturally we love this time of year... wish we could keep our Christmas decor up longer ;)

Received these Remy skinny jeans in "Aztec" from Raven Denim last week, so I obviously couldn't wait to wear them over the weekend! I'm obsessed with the color! Aren't you? This fall I'm really swooning over burnt orange shades, pumpkin spice-esque shades, rust shades... they just ooze fall and are all colors that are surprisingly versatile and look great on many skin tones! I'll be reviewing these jeans on Denimology.com soon, so be on the look out {if you haven't already checked out the Denimology site, or if you've missed out on my reviews you can check them out HERE}. This necklace was a great thrift find, it's so eye-catching -- such a statement piece! And let me just say that these boots are over 5 years old!! LOVE them! They are so worn in, but that's why I love them... super comfy and look great with just about anything!

P.S. I have some AWESOME news to share with all of you! I'm 8 weeks pregnant!! I've been wanting to spill the beans for awhile now... and just couldn't wait any longer! This vintage dress has been tucked away in my closet for months!!! Yesterday I wanted to go for comfort, but still have a rockin' outfit.... dresses are always easy and fabulous. :) Plus, this vintage velvet blazer was a perfect match for the dress. I picked this blazer up at a thrift store a couple years ago and paid around $5.00 for it. It came with a skirt that was wayyyy too tight... the blazer fit perfectly. As I've said before, don't discount two-piece sets when thrifting because you may find you can wear at least one of the pieces individually, or if you're lucky... BOTH! ;)

Q&A w/ Shop Owner: Lisa Nevins:

1.) Tell us a litte about the Urban Camp etsy shop.

One day I was riding my bike by the Pendleton fabric store (the only one like it in the country, lucky me). The Navajo trend had been rolling around in my mind. Once I went into the store I was so surprised to see the beautiful rolls of blanket wool, the designs and colors just grabbed me. That's when I thought "what a great twist on making an American classic, modern ". The name Urban Camp followed when I thought about how most of us love being home, it's our special Camp site with our personal statement in decor. Pendleton was my muse! We all know this looks great in a rustic setting, but a contemporary setting is really new and fresh. It's especially fun to be artistic in how you pick up the pattern for the pillows or purse. Every yard of fabric has a big pattern all over it, the fun part is picking the spot that looks cool. One pattern can make lots of different looks based on how you play with it. So there's a little bit of artistry in each one even before you start to do the craft of sewing. My friend makes the purses and I make the blankets and pillows, we have a good time talking about fabric and buying fabric, we can get in trouble together for sure!

2.) How long have you been creating your Navajo inspired pieces?

I opened the shop this September and it's been really encouraging to see the response! So, really not that long, 2 month at best!

3.) Would you say your own personal style or the decor of your home reflects a similar Navajo vibe?

My style is contemporary, I like art on the walls to be the focus in the room, I like furniture pieces that are special, a little mix of Asian as well. But now that I've gotten so inspired by this fabric I'm figuring out how to update my livingroom pillows and my bedroom with a cool blanket (now that it's cold out). I would infuse Navajo in a room with accessories, just a little is enough, that's why I love pillows and blankets. They are little pieces of art themselves.

4.) Which piece is currently your fave in your shop and why?

I love the teal and back diamond fabric I've listed in a blanket and pillows (see HERE, HERE, & HERE), the teal is so vibrant yet soothing, against black its really striking and sophisticated. I'd love to see it against a grey heather contemporary sofa. I had to think a while on this question. It's so wonderful to be around these patterns and colors while I create and sew for the shop. They all have an appeal. I love the black and cream patterns as much as the multi colored red, orange, teal patterns. My favorit purse of Linda's is the black and cream fabric called the Portland Collection. It's hard to say only a couple, since it's my shop I probably like them all, that makes sense!

5.) Why do you think Navajo and tribal pieces are so alluring to the fashion world?

I think there is a modern nod to the 70's. The panchos, boots, Levi's, hobo purses, heavier textured fabrics all speak to that era from a fashion standpoint. I think people want to be around something authentic. Pendleton is surely that! Home decor always follows fashion, I think that's what we are seeing.

6.) Any plans on adding scarves or clothing to your shop?

I think for now we will stick with what we are doing, maybe next year, you never know.

I picked up this vintage lbd a few months back and I just fell in love with the gathered v-neck and peplum-esque look in the front, and the open back. This vintage velvet jacket is one of a few I have sitting in my closet. I have a thing for vintage cropped jackets that have amazing detail.

Q&A w/ Jeri Hines

1.) Please tell us a little about your etsy shop, "Painted by Jeri Hines," and how long have you been creating bags like this?

I LOVE ETSY! I really do not know where or how I would have sold these or anything else before ETSY! I just launched my store this past Labor Day, so it is very new!

I am a photographer, so I have loved photographing the bags for my site, paintedbyjerihines.com and Etsy store. I also really loved photographing my beautiful friends Amy, Amanda & Lori modeling the PAINTEDs all around New York City! It has all been really fun, and fast as I really just started painting the bags this past June!

2.) What inspired you to create such unique and beautiful bags?

I Love Modern Art and COLOR, but can not afford it, so I started painting abstract paintings on canvas that were very color driven - just so I could have something to hang up in my apartment. My style evolved, and one day I painted a canvas in the style that I now paint the bags. When I finished the painting I had paint left over but no more canvas... so I found an old purse that I never carried and didn't really like, and I thought if I messed it up, no big deal, so I went for it! The result was that I loved it and started carrying it everywhere. I started getting compliments and questions of where I got it, and the Vintage Painted hand bag idea was born!

3.) What type of girl (or guy) do you envision sporting your creations?

The PAINTEDs are really so versatile that I feel like any fashion vixen or gent. could rock one! I definitely see my customer as someone who likes to stand out, be unique and has a strong personal style - A trend setter rather than a trend follower.
I would describe the PAINTED BAG personality as Ingrid Bergman meets 1970's Jerry Hall meets Cary Bradshaw. Women and/or men that identify with any of those personalities may be drawn to them.

4.) What is your fave bag in your shop right now?

Such a hard question, they are all like my babies!! I love all the metallic leather clutches {HERE and HERE} and think the vintage COACH bags are pretty special {HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, & HERE}. The Anne Klein with the Lion Logo is super cute and the ETRA's are so chic {HERE, HERE, & HERE}. There is a 1970, brown fold over that is Awesome too, and the SKINS {HERE}!!! Oh, and the brief case/computer envelope bag... Really don't make me choose!!!

5.) Your painting is so magnificent! Is there a method to your madness or is that top secret? ;)

SHHHHHHH, It's a secret:) ...But really just imagine if Jackson Pollock rolled around on one of his still drying paintings. There is a little more technique than that, but that is the jist.

6.) I love how you transform vintage bags into beautiful (and functional) works of art! Do you frequent vintage shops for items other than vintage bags though?

Jewelry, Jewelry, Jewelry!!! I have always LOVED Jewelry and styling with Jewelry. I even worked in the jewelry biz for years and got the chance to work for Neil Lane In LA. He and his team, especially Nami, really taught me so much about beautiful vintage and contemporary jewelry and styling with jewelry. So I am addicted to jewelry shopping and styling!

7.) How would you decribe your own personal style?

I LOVE getting dressed & I love to style an outfit. My style may vary a little with my mood or current inspiration - As of now I am very into late 1970's, New York City, Halston, Disco chic. (if you Google image those words you can see exactly what I mean)! I also Love to go BOHO Chic, Classic - Uptown, and can go Edgy Down Town too. I like to think, "How would I dress a character in a movie if she were going to go..." Where ever I am going.

Although, day to day you will catch me in my slightly styled up Lulu Lemon workout gear with knee boots, equipment shirt, scarf and tan leather motorcycle-jacket walking through NYC to or from my Bar Method class or in something more functional, but always styled, for my Photography job, like a fun jump suit!

8.) What are your top three favorite designers?

Wow, Ok, I can not hold it to Three! There is too much talent out there! I Love so many! Obviously the aspirational Heavy Hitters: Lagerfeld for Chanel, Sarah Burton for McQueen, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, YSL, Vintage Halston, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen etc. In my closet I have a lot of DVF, Phillip Lim, Rag & Bone, Haute Hippy, Rebecca Taylor, Marc by Marc Jacobs & Elizabeth & James.

9.) If you had to describe your bags in three words, which three would they be?

Fun, Unique, & Super-cool! (if I could have a 4th it would be - Mesmerizing, I sometimes catch my self staring at the color swirls and patterns in the painting - hours of entertainment)

10.) What are your "must-have" items that you carry frequently in your bag or clutch?

My "spin pin" hair pins, YSL "Volupte sheer candy" lip Gloss & my iphone with ear buds.

11.) Ever considered branching out and painting clothing too? Such as denim or jackets?

OOOOO, Great Idea! I thought about Shoes & Boots...as of now I just know that I am going to do a line of canvas tote bags for next summer!!!

I have a fondness for cable-knit sweaters... especially when they are made of super soft angora! Picked this giraffe print skirt up while thrifting months ago and now I'm finally wearing it {story of my life}. It came with a sleeveless top that buttons down the front {but I wear it backwards, so it buttons down the back}, and it has a leather rope that ties around the waist. It's perfect to wear with skinny jeans and a cute pair of heels {I'll have to post it on the blog soon!}. Another reason why I love thrifting: sometimes you find a set of pieces that might not be so "current" if worn together, but will look fabulous worn separately. A very good tip if you ever go thrifting: don't discount items that come in sets because you may be able to style 1 of the pieces separately, or both pieces separately! Then you have TWO outfits out of one! Can't beat that! ;)

When I am going for a look that is equal parts casual and chic, I grab a pair of great bell-bottom jeans and a vintage beaded number. I particulary love the beaded jackets because all you need is a simple white or black tee or tank and you're good to go! The look is polished, yet effortless. :)

I decided to keep up with the traditional fall colors (as I did yesterday Here), so I went for warm cinnamon and spice hues with this outfit from Forever 21. I usually don't wear head-to-toe brands, unless it's vintage of course, but I fell in love with these pants and this super soft sweater and couldn't wait to wear them together. That's another thing I usually do not do... Usually my new purchases (vintage or not) sit in my closet until I have a vision for them... and that can take months! I really love the print in these pants... they reminded me of these from Zara... just minus the high price tag.

1.) How long have you been designing jewelry?

Ever since I was little, I was obsessed with jewelry - especially friendship bracelets and charm jewelry (from the vending machine). I am still obsessed with Friendship bracelets! But its only been over a few years that I have started making jewerly for more than a hobby.

2.) How old is NobleHouseDesigns?

Noble House Designs is only 1.5 years old. Its a jewelry company for now but I have larger dreams to become a Home + lifestyle brand. With unique items from all over the world for your house and a fun line of accessories. Of course with color + prints!

3.) What inspires you to create your bright and colorful pieces? I love love color!

I am a true believer that no colors clash. You just have to be careful about what color tones you pair together. I really couldnt find jewelry (in my price range) that was big and colorful to wear with a great black dress or just a white t-shirt + jeans for the weekend. I am also inspired by vintage fashion - especially the 1970s gucci glam time and amazing current designers like Jill Sander, Milly, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta & Lanvin.

4.) If you had to sum your jewelry up in three words, which three would they be?

Tribal, 1970s Palm Beach + unique.

5.) What type of girl do you envision wearing your jewelry?

Ohh, good question! I would have to say Olivia Palermo, Blair from Atlantic-Pacific Blog or Rachel Zoe.

6.) Which piece is currently your favorite right now in your shop?

My new favorite piece is from my fall line. All inspired by color blocking trend, Its called CBI Vintage.

7.) Does your own personal style reflect your jewelry design? Vintage? Tribal?

Colorful? Yes, yes and yes!! When it comes to decorating and fashion - I love anything mid century modern or with an asian flair to it or from the 1970s! I appreciate older furniture, its a better quality and usually cheaper in price. My husband and I travel a lot so i tend to pick up fun things for our home like antique Suzanis from Turkey, textiles + lanterns from Morocco, fabric and quilts from India and so on. Its fun to know that you have a unique items in your home that have memories tied to them. We are in the middle of a complete kitchen renovation and its the only place in my house/closet/life that has no color! Its going to be clean, white and modern.

8.) Who are your fave jewelry designers?

Chanel + Oscar de la Renta! I have a pair of chanel earrings that I wear all of the time and a vintage chanel brooch, that I love so much! For more affordable lines, i love Kate spade's jewelry and Betsy Johnson's earrings. They are so cute and easy to mix and match. I wear big necklaces, so i like to wear small earrings or studs.

9.) If you were stranded on an island, and could only have one piece of jewelry with you, which piece would it be?

It would have to be my engagement ring from my husband. He designed the ring himself without my help and it is classic but beautiful. He has great taste! Also, i would imagine I could use it to start a fire on a desert island, so a pretty handy tool as well :)

10.) Any suggestions on ways to style your pieces, or what to wear with them?

My pieces can be a little overwhelming since they are usually multiple strands and colorful. But they can work with any outfit - i promise! I love wearing my necklaces with a crisp white button up and skinny jeans with flats. Or I just bought this great red print DVF wrap dress and will pair my speckled vintage necklace or the GTL necklace with it. When in doubt - wear bright accesorries with a little black dress!
