Bird Crap Featherwear Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Hey dolls! Introducing another giveaway... :)
The Bird Crap Featherwear shop really wowed me when I first checked it out! This shop has ah-mazing feather earrings and head pieces! And all of the pieces are so unique and the feathers used in each creation are beautiful. I was stoked when Geneva, the owner, agreed to do a giveaway with my blog! :) I have a thing for feathers, in decorating and also in fashion. So I couldn't wait to share this shop with all of you!

Q&A with Geneva


1.) Tell us a little about Bird Crap Featherwear.

Bird Crap Featherwear is a Feather Jewelry design company that began some years ago here in Portland Oregon. My husband, Matt and I both make all our items from our quaint, 435 sf studio house. It makes for a hectic home life, but we aim to keep the business as home based as possible!

2.) How did you come up with such a name for your shop?

It wasn't easy! For a long time I operated under the name Phoenix Design Studio. As my product range began to narrow and eventually come to only be the feather earrings I make, the name was no longer appropriate. I needed something memorable, edgy, and me. Lots of ideas were tossed around, until a friend of mine jokingly suggested "Bird Crap." Well... it stuck and has been one of our most clever marketing strategies, although we had no idea at the time.

3.) What inspires you to create your pieces?

The materials themselves are really quite inspiring, but everyday items spark a lot of ideas. Just the other day I picked a bunch of Zinnia's from my garden. The shades of oranges and deep pinks and purples inspired the combination for a new set of earrings. A lot of designs just come from experimentation and a willingness to try new things.

4.) What type of guy or girl do you envision wearing your pieces?

The great thing about Bird Crap Featherwear, is that there is something for everyone. Large pieces like the Warrior Princess style are for a bold personality, for someone who likes to make a statement. Many designs are shorter, like our Fancy Peacock style, which adds delicate flair without the commitment of the bold statement of the larger pieces. These pieces go with any style or hair length, and look great with a dress or jeans and a T-shirt!

5.) What is your fave item in your shop?

The Warrior Princess earrings are my favorite style. They are the longest and largest of the designs, and I absolutely love them!

6.) Any tips for accessorizing with your pieces?

They're great to wear alone as a statement piece or with lots of bangles and necklaces. One can accomplish a very versatile look with the earrings! There isn't any right or wrong way to wear them, I want people to integrate these pieces into their own original style!

7.) What's your own style like?

I grew up in Texas and have never kicked the cowgirl out! I love a good pair of jeans and boots, or a cute dress with boots... well anything with boots!! Most of my clothes end up with paint or glue on them so I shop second hand for lots of clothes. No matter what, I always finish my outfits off with my earrings. I've pretty much not worn any of my other earrings for... well, years!
