Q&A w/ Morgan {shop owner}


1.) Please tell us a little about the Cloven etsy shop.
Cloven is a true labor of love, although 'labor' doesn't seem an appropriate word for it, as designing and creating jewelry is way too much fun for me.
After years of creating jewelry and adornments for friends, family and myself , I made the decision to venture out into the World Wide Web and open an online shop ... enter Cloven.

2.) How'd you come up with that name for your shop and what does it mean?
Well, more commonly, cloven implies the division of a single source into two. Some days I feel a bit more bohemian, others a bit more refined and I desire my designs to reflect and compliment both aspects. Naturally, I wanted the shop to have a name that would catch one's imagination as well as convey the diversity that one can find within it.
Not to mention that smack dab in the middle of it all is ... love. (C-love-n)
It doesn't get much better than that.
Once the thought of Cloven entered my mind, I knew I needn't search any further.


3.) Your creations are inspired by nature, would you characterize yourself as a very outdoorsy kind of gal?
I do love the outdoors. I find so much inspiration in nature, perhaps that's why I find a stroll through the woods or an afternoon at the river so invigorating. And of course, I always have my camera with me.
But at the end of the day, give me a glass of merlot, a good book or an intriguing detective mystery on the tube and I'm happy.


4.) What type of girl do you envision wearing your pieces?
I'd like to think that there is something for everyone in the shop. Though I'm sure many of my pieces would appeal to those who share my taste and style.
Bohemian gals (and guys) looking for that simple touch of vintage meets rustic charm or even something with a bit more edge for that special occasion.
Of course, custom pieces are always a welcome option, too.

5.) What is your fave piece in your shop?
That's like asking a mother to choose between her children. An impossible task.
But if pressured, at the moment, I would say my 'Crossroads' bracelet, 'Eden' ring or 'Zadkiel Cavern' necklace.

6.) What's your own personal style like?
My personal style - clothing, accessories & home decor - has something of a Victorian Naturalist vibe. Bohemian gothic, rustic elegance, if you will. I love pairing soft, feminine vintage pieces with more modern luxuries. Like a vintage lace-trimmed blouse with a favorite pair of skinny jeans and rich leather boots, topped off with chunky antique etched silver bangles and layers of handmade necklaces adorned with relics of the past.
