Q&A w/ Christina (Designer/Shop Owner):

1.) Please tell us a little about the "Boo and Boo Factory" etsy shop.

Boo and Boo Factory is special to me because it represents something that I make with my own hands. I mainly design with the computer in my architecture career and then send models to get 3d printed or laser cut. It's nice not sitting in front of the computer for 16 hours and actually making something by hand from beginning to end.

2.) What inspires you to create your jewelry?

I'm in graduate school right now at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and I'm very influenced by scripting and fabrication. This can be seen in my pieces. I love bold geometry and repetition. I'm going to introduce elements of 3d printing and laser cutting soon for a mixed media look. I think the combination of handmade with machinic processes will be interesting.

3.) What made you choose "recycled leather" as your material of choice when creating your pieces?

I chose recycled leather as my material of choice because it is easy to cut and maintains it's shape. Leather is luxurious and gives the jewelry a more precious feel.

4.) What's your fave item in your shop?

That's a difficult one! I like everything! But if I do have to choose, I love any of the geometric prism earrings: HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

5.)What type of girl do you envision wearing your pieces?

I don't envision one type of girl. I think my jewelry is playful and fun for several types and that's what makes it so special.

6.) What's your own personal style like?

My own personal style is a cross between southwest, biker, metal and new wave. Think Marisa Tomei in my Cousin Vinny meets Siouxsie And The Banshees. I wear way too much black and leather. But that'll change as summer comes :)
