{dress: vintage; wedge heel: Pour La Victoire; necklaces: vintage/Granny's; clutch: Granny's; bracelets: David Yurman; watch: Michael Kors}
I was smitten with this dress from the moment I set eyes on it. The colors just popped and I loved the length and the cut. Plus I knew my Pour La Victoire wedge heels would look so fabulous with it! It was a tad too big for me, so I brought it to my alteration's girl, and voila! Now it fits me perfectly! Lately I've been really good about hanging on to thrift or vintage items that I love, but just don't fit me the way I'd like them to. For just a few extra bucks an alterations place can make a few adjustments that are so worth the few days of waiting time. Some items are just too good to pass up, so why let a few inches of fabric get in your way? I recently stumbled upon a fabulous Nanette Lepore strapless dress with the most amazing print. It was way to big for me, so instead of leaving it on the rack I bought it for only $6 and took it to my alterations shop... I ended up spending only $20 or so to get it altered... now it fits me like a glove! Nanette Lepore dresses run in the hundreds, so for under $50 I had myself a chic designer dress! Can't beat it! Now if only I could teach myself how to use a sewing machine I'd be golden. :)
Ladylike luxe J! Love those little kitten heels...perfect finish for a polished look!

You look so gorgeous! Your hair is flawless.
ReplyDeletethis dress is like 80s does 40s. somewhat of a tea dress (which i adore) but with kickbutt 80s attitude, cut-out back, tighter fit. I just got an 80s does 40s dress back from the alterations place, too! (we are beginning to think alike!) You look beautiful and I love the bit of tangled necklaces too, adds depth. Now, teach me how to do a ponytail like that! (hint: hair tutorials! you are QUEEN with hair, girl!) xxDree
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to use a sewing machine, too. I thrifted a way-too-big Betsey Johnson that I should go get altered but I'm really bad about running that particular errand. :)

ReplyDeleteCould you do a favorites for your make up? Your face always looks flawless!
Looove this dress, you look so glamerous lady! Love the bright color, floral design and little details like the cut out in the back and the peplum...and your heels do look absolutely perfect with it! Gorgeous, and I agree, getting things altered is so worth it, especially when you find designer pieces!

As always, you look stunning. A good tailor is worth their weight in gold as far as this dress is concerned. ;)And the Pour La Victoires look fabulous. (I've snagged a couple pairs on sale recently and I'm totally smitten with them now too)...
