Q&A With Elizabeth & Courtney (Designers & Owners of Oia Jules):

1.) How long have you both been designing jewelry?
Together for about a year and a half.

2.) When did you both first start Oia Jules {pronounced ee-ah jewels}?
About a year and a half ago.

3.) What is the meaning behind, "Oia Jules?".
Oia is a small village on the island of Santorini in Greece which is the inspiration behind the name. Alot of the stones we use are reminiscent of the vibrant colors you see in flowers among the hillsides and the sea seen from the top of Oia.

4.) Your jewelry is inspired by the Islands of Greece, are either of you Greek yourself?
Tikanis! Only by love!

5.) You both met in Brooklyn, NY while attending art school at Pratt Institute, what brought you both to sunny Los Angeles, CA?
After moving from Brooklyn to Manhattan, Paris France then Milan, back to Paris and to San Francisco... Courtney eventually moved down the coast to LA for a career in Fashion and Costuming. Elizabeth worked in Manhattan as a graphic designer for a few years after art school. Her strong love of music and the Pacific Ocean inspired the move West to pursue work as a designer in the music industry. The two of us eventually ended up as neighbors in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles.

6.) You work with a lot of beautiful stones, if either of you had to choose a favorite which would it be and why?
The cyan blue agates. Brilliant like the oceans of Greece.

7.) What type of girl do you envision in your pieces?
Confident, bold, and not afraid to make a statement!

8.) If you both had to leave the house in only once piece of jewelry, which piece would you choose and why?
Chunky chain bracelet everyday. Any color agate will do!

9.) Where do you both see Oia Jules in the next five years?
We hope to see women of all ages in Oia Jules! We are also planning on branching out to other accessories, specifically handbags and belts.

10.) Who are your fave jewelry designers? Any fave etsy shops you both want to share?
Alexander McQueen's jewelry is knocking our socks off... Love the edginess of what Dannijo is doing at the moment...And Michael Kors of course! Our bracelets are a perfect pairing for his watches!

11.) If you both had to describe your jewelry in three words or less, which would you choose?
Modern, bold, unique.
