Bridgett Claire

So here she is! Our beautiful, healthy baby girl, Bridgett Claire!! Sorry for the delay in posting photos, y'all... but it has been a whirlwind since she's made it home. We are loving every moment spent with her and our sweet girl, Courtney, but it has been difficult at times. A newborn and a toddler can be a lot to handle (especially during chores or making dinner), but big sister Court has been such a good little helper for mommy. She'll fetch me diapers or blankets when I need them and she's always giving her new little sister sweet kisses. I always wanted a sister growing up (I have 3 brothers), so I am so excited to raise these two girls together and to watch their relationship grow through the years.

Bridgett was born on her due date -- January 9, 2015 at 5:20 PM. My doctor had me come in at 5:00 AM and she broke my water. I was only dilated about 3 cm when I arrived. Once she broke my water, they administered my epidural (around 8:00 AM) and we waited to see if my contractions would grow stronger. Unfortunately things were moving really slow, and I wasn't dilating quick enough, so they started pitocin to induce my labor. At around 3:30 PM my epidural had started to wear off, so they gave me more meds (and at a stronger dose) and I was feeling great. At 5:00 PM they checked me and I was dilated 10 cm, so we waited for the doctor to come! Waiting about 10 minutes for that doctor to come felt like an eternity. We were SO excited to meet our new baby and the suspense was killing us -- was it going to be a girl or a boy? Once the doctor arrived I only had to push a few times and Bridgett was here! Hearing her cry for the first time was the sweetest sound. When your baby is placed on your chest for the first time it is such a magical feeling. Totally indescribable. You just feel an instant love at that moment.

Bridgett weighed 8 lbs 13 oz (the same as her sister!) and measured 21 inches long! She's been such a joy since she's come home. Really mellow, much like her sister Court was. She eats constantly and has been sleeping really well. I love catching her little smiles here and there, and she even laughs sometimes during her sleep. It's seriously the cutest thing ever.

I'm really thankful for such a smooth labor and delivery. I had a little pain when my epidural was wearing off, but once I received meds I was feeling like I was on cloud 9. It was very refreshing to be able to enjoy giving birth because my labor and delivery with Courtney was pretty rough. You can read about it HERE.

We're loving every day spent with these sweet girls that God has blessed us with. We feel so lucky to be their parents and I can't wait to share more photos of the two of them as they continue to grow. It's just crazy looking back at pics of Court on my blog. Cannot believe she's already 2! Where does the time go??!

Thanks to all my amazing followers/readers for all the love and support. Y'all are awesome and your comments have been SO sweet!
