Casual Chic

{top: Ripe Maternity c/o The Swanky Stork (on major sale!) // denim: Paige c/o // bag: vintage Louis Vuitton // sneakers: Puma x Alexander McQueen // sunglasses: Balmain // bracelets: Blessings In Disguise and The Ropes Maine c/o // branch necklace: Padgett Hoke Jewelry c/o The Swanky Stork // number & letter necklaces: Maya Brenner c/o // Key Chain: Ell and Emm c/o}

Now that I'm a mom of a toddler AND a newborn you better believe the majority of my days are spent wearing comfy casual looks like this, but I always try to put a chic spin on it. My key to dressing casual chic is pretty simple. If I'm wearing a t-shirt or simple tee I almost always throw on a utility jacket, cardi sweater, or kimono. If I'm ditching the cover-up and only sporting the top, then I opt for fabrics that are more luxe (like a nice knit or cashmere). Sometimes it's all about a fun print or color. When choosing footwear for this look I either go with a great ankle boot, a classic ballet flat, or my fave casual footwear option of all: the sneaker! Whether it's a low, retro-style or a comfy high-top style, I'm all about them and you'll find me wearing these more often than not. Right now there are some awesome high-tops online (see some of my faves below), and it's really hard for me to not buy them all -- they're all so good. Plus, they instantly add a bit of edginess to any look. So even if you're wearing a head-to-toe classic or preppy look, high-top sneakers will give your look some edge, and thus make it more stylish and fun.

For this casual chic look I opted for this great batwing knit top c/o The Swanky Stork. This day I was running from doctor's appointments to grocery stores with the hubs and the girls in tow, so I needed a look that was comfortable, easy, AND stylish (of course). The rich color in this top really caught my eye and the style and fit is perfect for my post-pregnancy body right now. It's flowy in all the right places and it's especially great if you are pregnant because it is a maternity top. I love maternity tops that can also work post-pregnancy though and this is one of them. How cute is this gold branch necklace they sent me? I think it's the perfect dainty touch to any necklace layering game -- and I love to layer delicate little necklaces together.

Also, I usually don't touch on lingerie or under garments in my outfit posts, but since I'm nursing right now I thought I'd tell y'all that this nursing bra (by Bravado Designs) from The Swanky Stork is my absolute FAVE nursing bra EVER! I've tried quite a few and this one is the most comfortable and offers the best shape and support.

The Swanky Stork is a luxe maternity shoppe based in Birmingham, AL that carries top brands like Lilac Clothing, Rachel Pally, DL 1961 --just to name a few! I worked with a handful of great maternity shops during my pregnancy, but I have to say that this one really separates itself from the others. Not only do they carry gorgeous clothing for women during and after pregnancy, but the owners (Bryson, Mary Ann and Beth) started a wonderful foundation to assist children of cancer victims. I'm all about supporting those that give back and I love giving back myself, so I couldn't wait to share their foundation with y'all. It's called Fireflies & Fairytales and the goal is to help children overcome the emotional, physical and psychological problems that inevitably arise when a child loses a parent to cancer. This foundtaion is very meaningful and personal to Bryson, Mary Ann and Beth because they lost their mother, Kathy Montgomery, to cancer in 1995. They were able to overcome their grief with love and support from family and friends and they hope to provide the same support for other children. The Fireflies & Fairytales Foundation is a non-profit organization. You can read more about the foundation in an article that was published by The Birmingham News HERE and feel free to contact Bryson, Mary Ann or Beth for more information.
