Cooking With Hello Fresh // Part 1

I was super excited to try out Hello Fresh. If you aren't familiar with the brand, it's healthy and delicious recipes with pre-measured ingredients that are delivered straight to your door. No need to run to the grocery store or scour Pinterest for a new recipe. Everything is done for you!

I'll be honest, I'm a stay-at-home mom and wife and I love to cook. There are days when I dread cooking and get excited about re-heating leftovers, but most days I'm eager to open up a cookbook and try out a new recipe. My daughter is very picky now (started as soon as she turned 2), so most of the time she's eating a separate meal from what my husband and I are eating. I love to try new things and the thought of receiving everything I need for a recipe in a box delivered to my doorstep (without having to head to the grocery store with a toddler and 3 month old) was really intriguing.

My husband and I were really surprised to see how perfectly organized and packaged the recipes were when they arrived on our doorstep. We received 3 full meals (you'll see the other 2 in later posts) and each meal had it's own plastic bag containing all of the ingredients needed. There was even an apron, cutting board, and complete recipe cards with step-by-step instructions. We were impressed!

The recipe cards are super easy to follow, and prep and cooking time was a lot quicker than we thought. Our first meal was the Steak Tagliata With Rosemary Sweet Potatoe Wedges and Watercress Salad. We love our steak and potatoes, so we couldn't wait to whip this recipe up! This recipe is gluten and lactose free and only took 35 minutes to make. The ingredients are all straight-from-the-farm fresh and the meal tasted delicious! I've also never had a watercress salad, and can often be quite picky with my salads and I thought it was so yummy. It was a surprisingly light meal and the portion size was just enough for the two of us.

We really enjoyed Hello Fresh. It's a great way to step outside of your comfort zone and try new recipes. It's really easy and beats having to make the trip to the grocery store. I think it's perfect for busy families, or if you both work and don't have time to run to the grocery store. It also allows the stay-at-home moms to have more time with their children because it's less time planning meals, grocery shopping, and slaving in the kitchen -- haha. I think Hello Fresh would also be perfect for families staying in rentals over the summer or going on a week vacation and don't want to eat out everyday.

Hello Fresh allows you to switch from classic box to veggie box, from two person to four person, or even pause if you're going to be away. They allow you to choose your meals each week, as well as delivery days.
