This blazer was an amazing thrift find from a couple years ago and although it's one of my fave vintage pieces in my closet, I've yet to wear it. Sounds silly? Read on...If you've been following my blog for awhile then you might remember when I would say that I often let my vintage "marinate" in my closet before I wear it. Sounds totally ridic I know, because most people purchase something and have to wear it right away. When I find a great vintage piece I can't wait to wear it, but I wait until the perfect time. Maybe that means a special occasion, or it can mean I have a vision of how I want to style it and I'm in search of another piece, OR it can simply mean I'm not sure how I want to style it yet. This blazer is such a statement piece, so I wanted to make sure it was the star of the outfit. I envisioned pairing it with a pair of white denim for a fresh look. I would've never dreamt of pairing it with black denim. Not sure why. I was in a rut for an outfit to wear to HSN last week -- btw, don't you hate when you sit in your closet and you know you have SO many clothes, yet you feel like you have nothing? #storyofmylife Anyways, whenever I don't know what to wear I always reach for a blazer and a great pair of denim. A blazer is a sure way to look polished and put together and I have a plethora of blazers in my closet. Most of mine have interesting qualities to them -- a fun print, a bright bold color, an interesting texture -- and I suddenly remembered I had this beauty just waiting to be worn. Since I'm still waiting to fit into most of my pre-pregnancy denim, I reached for a pair of jeans I knew would fit: these ankle zip skinnies by Hudson. They're from a couple years ago, but they fit great and the ankle zippers add a bit of edge. I finished off the look with a black cami (I've said it before on the blog, but this one by Express is my go-to), black sandals, and some fun accessories. If you read my post yesterday then you read that this lariat choker is my new obsession. It's the perfect touch of gold and lariats are so on trend right now.
I was pretty happy about the outcome of my look. It seemed very "New York" to me because of the outfit consisting of mostly black pieces. The black served as the perfect canvas to let this awesome vintage blazer shine.

How do y'all feel about metallic blazers? Would you ever rock one? If so, how would you style it?
