14 Days of Target Denim

Compensation was provided by Target via Mode Media. All opinions are my own.

Denim is a staple in all of our closets and it’s that one clothing item that we reach for on a weekly basis, no matter the season or occasion. A good pair of jeans is meant to be lived in. You not only feel comfortable while wearing your favorite pair of jeans, but it makes you look and feel beautiful. Whether it’s your favorite pair of skinny jeans that makes your tush look just right, or it’s your favorite pair or flares that elongates you and gives you “legs for days." What makes the perfect pair of denim? Well, for one, it has to look good on you, but quality is also key. Living in our jeans means they have to last us more than one season (preferably more than a year). The fit is also key because if the jeans don’t fit your body in all the right places, then chances are you aren’t going to reach for them when you’re getting dressed each day.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you probably know I love denim. Skinny, flares, boyfriend – I love them all! That’s why I was super excited when I was given the chance to review Target’s latest denim collection. Target has revamped their denim collection to feature styles with improved fabrics and fits. They have designed a pair of jeans for every body type and each pair has unique details that will make you look and feel your very best.

Target sent me 4 pairs – a Mid-Rise Skinny, a High Rise Flare, a Mid-Rise Straight, and a Boyfriend. My denim collection is embarrassingly large, so I’ve tried a lot of different brands and styles of denim through the years. I know what style looks best on me and I know the details that can really help make a pair of jeans great. I have to say that Target has really upped their game in the denim department.

I’ve owned a pair of Target jeans in the past (mostly in college) and the quality and fit was just “OK”. However, this new collection is so good that you would think you were wearing a pair of designer jeans.

Let’s talk quality. The boyfriend jeans especially had a nice thick denim made from 100% cotton that felt like a lived-in pair of vintage jeans. The denim is soft and the jeans were super comfy to wear. I love the relaxed fit of a boyfriend jean. It’s a jean you can run errands in, or you can dress it up with a pair of heels for a night out. When it comes to distressing on jeans sometimes the holes can look overdone or have a forced or fake look. A great pair of distressed jeans looks like they ripped on their own from years of wear. That’s exactly how I felt these boyfriend jeans’ holes looked.

I also really loved the quality of the Mid-Rise Skinny, the High Rise Flare, and Mid-Rise Straight as well. Each pair is comprised of a mix of cotton, spandex, and/or polyester or rayon – giving them all great stretch. The jeans moved with my body and kept their shape through the 14 day trial. There’s nothing worse than a pair of jeans that stretches out in just one wear. No one wants a saggy tush, gaps in the waistline, or bulky fabric in the legs.

One detail that really made me smile was in the Mid-Rise Skinny jeans, and this pair was my favorite. I’m 5’10” and I love a skinny jean that has a cropped ankle. I just think the look is incredibly chic and looks fab with heels. The jeans have a 27" inseam, so they hit right above my ankle, which I just loved. They also were the most comfortable pair out of all the styles. They conformed to my body and flattered my curves, which is a big deal for me because I do have wider hips and can be self-conscious of how they look in jeans sometimes.

Overall I was more than pleasantly surprised with all of the jeans. I also love how Target sent me a couple washes and styles that I normally wouldn’t purchase on my own. They helped me to break out of my comfort zone. I have never really been fond of the Straight style of jeans, but I really liked the fresh look of the Mid-Rise Straight jeans. The look and fit is very classic. They also had a bit of a 90’s feel to them as well, which is very on trend right now. Another great perk about Target’s denim line is the price tag! It’s super affordable, which means you can add more than one fab style to your denim collection. Starting July 26th, you can try on Target denim in the store and receive $10 off! I highly suggest checking out Target's new denim collection and getting a style that you love and will wear most often, but also a try out a new style that will help you break out of your comfort zone. Sometimes you can surprise yourself with how great a new style can look on your body.
