Concealer Wardrobing With Ulta Beauty

As I delve more into the beauty posts on my blog, I find myself experimenting a lot more than I used to with my daily makeup routine. I used to be pretty basic and I only used drug store products. Now I'm discovering new techniques and new brands that I am absolutely loving. One of my favorite places to shop for makeup is Ulta. I love that they carry everything I need beauty-wise, whether it's hair-care or makeup. Plus, they always have awesome sales! So, when Ulta came to me with a beauty post challenge to create a look based on one of fall's hottest makeup trends: Concealer Wardrobing, I was totally game. Not sure what Concealer Wardrobing is? Read on for more!

I live in Florida, so the weather in the summer is very hot and humid. In the summer I'm always opting for a tinted moisturizer with SPF. It gives me a nice dewy glow, minimal coverage, and protects my face from the sun. In the fall and winter months I'm not in the sun as much, so I crave full coverage with a bold lip to match! ;) Concealer Wardrobing helps give you a full coverage look without a heavy foundation.

I know what you may be thinking, multiple concealers in one beauty look? Seems like a lot of work. Let me tell y'all that having multiple concealers in your makeup bag can actually help you achieve a more flawless and polished look that won't look caked on, and it takes a lot less time than you think.

First things first! You have to decide what you want to conceal and if you want to reshape or highlight your face. That's right, you can contour and highlight your face with different shades of concealers! Since I have some red areas and some minor breakouts I definitely need a concealer that will cover those problem areas. I also need some brightening under my eyes (that's what two babies will do to ya -haha), so an under eye concealer (that also brightens) is key!

Before I start with my makeup, I use Amazing Cosmetics "Anti-Aging Face Primer".  This helps to create a blank canvas and prepares my skin for makeup. I also love that it helps my makeup to last all day, with just a couple touch-ups. Then it's time to brighten my eyes. I use It Cosmetics "Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer" in "Light" -- it works like a dream! A little bit goes a long way, which is nice because you know the product will last awhile. It not only conceals my dark circles, but it also has anti-aginging treatment that treats the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. I apply it with my ring finger and dab lightly in a v shape under my eye for instant bright eyes!

Next, I use Amazing Cosmetics "Amazing Concealer" in "Light Golden" to mask those problem areas I was talking about. What I love about this product is that it's highly pigmented, so it gives me the full coverage I crave. What is also great about this product is that it has a natural-looking finish, so it never looks caked-on. I found that a little pin-sized amount went a long way. I dab and blend lightly with my ringer finger until all the product is completely blended.

I love how fresh and bright my face already looks!

Next it's time to highlight and brighten my face! For this I use Amazing Cosmetics "Perfection Stick" in "Fair". I love that it's in stick form because it's super easy to apply. I'll definitely keep this product in my purse for touch-ups through the day.

I want to highlight the areas of my face where the light hits, so I draw the product down the bridge of my nose, in the middle of my forehead, the center of my chin, the tops of my cheekbones, on my cupid's bow and on either side of my mouth. I then use my ring finger to blend in gently, so there aren't any harsh lines.

The final step is to reshape or contour certain areas of my face. This will help to give my face some dimension, and it will enhance areas like my cheekbones and jawline. For this step I use Urban Decay's 24/7 Concealer Pencil in the darkest shade: "M16".

I draw the product down either side of my cheekbones, my jawline, my hairline, and on either side of the bridge of my nose. I blend it in really well with my ring finger and a kabuki brush so there aren't any harsh lines.

I swipe some translucent powder over my entire face to set the look. Then I finish off with some blush, applying it to the apples of my cheeks, at the sides of my forehead and on my chin. I had already applied my lipstick and eye make-up before I started my face makeup, so now I'm all done!

So here it is! My final look! I love that it's a full-coverage makeup look, yet it didn't look or feel caked on. I also really liked how fresh faced and awake I looked. I actually felt like this looked very much like a "no-makeup" makeup look. This look lasted all day long too, which is a huge plus. What do you think of my tutorial? Would you give concealer wardrobing a try? Have you already tried it? Would love to know your thoughts via the comments below!

  1. I believe I will give this a try and can see how it can be a no makeup look. I have read reviews about the Amazing primer before and wondered about the line, if it is truly amazing as its name implies. What are your thoughts? Thanks for sharing the concealer wardrobing

    1. Thanks for your comment, Christy! This is my first time trying out the Amazing Cosmetics line and I am pretty impressed. The primer is one of the best I've tried and both concealers worked really well. They both provided great coverage and have a non-cakey, natural-looking finish. I'm eager to try some of their other products. Let me know if you try any, would love to hear your thoughts as well! Thanks again for commenting and visiting the blog! xx Jen

  3. What a great tutorial! I really love how you take close-up photos so people can see how exactly each of the products work on your skin. However, I think I that you don't really need a concealer at all! Your skin is so flawless!

I also had a chance to try concealers by Amazing Cosmetics and those are...well, amazing! ;)
