Denim. Check! Suede. Check! Shearling. Check! All of my fave winter textures are coming out to play in this outfit. If only tweed and velvet were here, we'd have the entire gang! ;) But seriously y'all, one of my fave styling tips for winter is to mix textures -- and it's SO easy! Incorporating a piece of outerwear in a contrasting texture is the easiest way. I love that this denim jacket also has shearling in it, so it's a mix all in it's own.
The real star of this outfit is the gorgeous embroidered skirt. I love it's 70's appeal and believe it or not it's faux suede, but it looks and feels like the real thing. I think the pencil style makes it super versatile too. You could wear this to the office with a button down white shirt or bow-tie blouse (my fave!), or I could dress it down with some flats and a chunky knit for the weekend. Since the style of the skirt is quite modest, I wanted to step outside of the box and pair it with a crop top. This wintery white crop has been sitting in my closet since October, just waiting for it's moment to shine. It's cut shorter than most of my crop tops, so the high-waisted skirt definitely helps to keep things balanced. It was a super cold day, so I had to incorporate some outerwear, but I still wanted the skirt to stand out. This shearling denim jacket was the perfect finishing touch! I love how the blues in the jacket matched perfectly with the blue in the skirt. Plus, the jacket plays into that 70's vibe just like the skirt, so basically they were meant to be! ;)
How do you mix textures in the winter time? I would love to know!
