Transitioning Beauty & Style into Fall

The official day of fall is exactly 1 week away and to say I'm excited is an understatement. Don't get me wrong, I am a Florida girl and I do love me some sunshine and ocean, but fall is definitely my favorite season of all. Aside from the fact that the weather is more pleasant (cooler temps and low humidity, yay!), the beauty and fashion makes me giddy! Ankle boots, over-the-knee boots, knitted dresses, chunky sweaters -- the list goes on. And when it comes to beauty, well nothing completes the perfect fall look without a deep-colored lip like plum or red.

We really don't start feeling those cool, fall-like temps until end of October, so in the mean-time I like to slowly transition my wardrobe with fall faves that are season appropriate, but won't have me sweating up a storm in our warmer temps. My tip for easily transitioning your outfits into fall is to swap those strappy heels or sandals for a pair of boots. My fave style to wear is a western-style ankle boot. They give off an edgier vibe that I just love, and they look great dressed up or down.

For this transitional fall look, I paired an embroidered dress (that I could also rock in the summer) with ankle boots, and accessories that are also perfect for fall. Believe it or not, you can transition a lot of your summery frocks into the fall with just swapping your shoes and accessories for darker tones and textures like suede. I also always opt for dresses that have more fall-like tones to them. If you love florals, opt for darker florals versus bright. This dress is still bright and fun, but the black color definitely gives off the fall vibe when paired with some boots.

I finished off my look with a double-buckle western belt (another fave and perfect for wearing over cozy wraps) and a tan cross-body (my go-to as of late). If I was living in an area where the temps were cooler I would top this look with a denim or leather jacket. I especially love pairing girly dresses with moto jackets in the fall -- especially jackets in suede and velvet!

As I stated above, nothing completes a look more than a vampy lip, so I chose a deep black-cherry hue from above to complete my summer-to-fall ensemble. I also featured some of my other fave lip hues to rock in the fall (and winter)! ;)

Now that we have style covered, let's move on to the foundation of any good look -- a good beauty regime! And this includes hair AND makeup, ladies. When the weather changes it affects our hair and our skin, so it's important to use products that will treat them both with great care. Let's face it, you don't want to rock that awesome new outfit with dry, flaky skin or brittle hair!

Above are all products that are must-haves for my beauty routine into fall (and winter)! Clockwise from top: face scrub: before we can even think about moisturizing our skin we have to exfoliate all of those dead skin cells. This also helps keep skin radiant, and not dull. facial serum: a good face serum is also a great way to restore your skin. It's important to look for one that will not only hydrate your skin, but one that will also exfoliate to refine texture and imperfections. face oil: face oils are a must for me year-round, but I especially love using them into colder temps because they keep my skin hydrated and give off a nice dewey glow (even under makeup) that you usually only get in the summer. body scrub: it's important to scrub your face AND your body, ladies. Exfoliating your entire body helps release toxins and will help your skin to soak up more moisture. hair oil: I color treat my hair, so it's dry to begin with, so when you add in cold, dry weather than it really starts to get dry and brittle. The best way for me to take care of it is to replenish and hydrate with oils. lip balms: lip balms are a must-have for me, especially into the colder temps when my lips get dry and tend to crack. The only that I currently use smooths and softens my lips with peppermint and rosemary oils. facial scrub brush: as I stated above, exfoliation is extremely important for our skin and though I won't use a scrub on my face daily, this scrub brush is safe enough to use twice a day and will still help to deep clean my pores and keep my skin looking bright. hair mask: hair masks (coupled with oils) are another must-have for my hair. I try to use one at least once a week to not only nourish my looks, but also help to rid my hair of impurities that can weigh it down and make my color look dull.

Last, but certainly not least, in my beauty must-haves for fall (and winter) is the JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer. This is a product that I recently started using in the summer (see my previous posts here and here) and I love it so much that it's turning out to be a product I need year-round. It's just too good, y'all. This is a moisturizer that you actually use in the shower, before you dry off. Did you know that just-showered skin is the best time for your skin to absorb moisture? I didn't know that until I started using the product, but now that I know it totally makes sense. When your skin is wet, your pores are open and are better-able to take in moisture. This oil-infused moisturizer blends with water on wet skin to instantly lock in hydration -- the perfect remedy for fighting dry, flaky skin during those cold temps, right?! It takes less than a minute to apply to your entire body and all you need to use is a dime-size amount on each arm and a quarter-size amount on each leg. Once your done, you step out of the shower -- you DO NOT have to rinse it off -- and then you pat yourself dry. It instantly moisturizes skin and leaves it with a luminous glow.

A couple other great things about this product is that it smells AMAZING and it will cut your "getting ready" routine in half! Oh and p.s. this product is from the drug store, so that means it's easy on the wallet. Really now, what's not to love?

Be sure to check out the JERGENS® website to see the rest of the JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizers varieties! I'd also love to know if you've tried this product before and what your thoughts were! xx
