Tips for Rockin' the Western Trend

If there's one type of style that's most evident on my blog (and especially on my Instagram) it's without a doubt WESTERN. If you're a long-time follower of mine then you may already know that I was born in Tucson, AZ and lived there until I was 11. Though I've lived in Florida the majority of my life, I've always been drawn to western vibes and I LOVE incorporating the style into my outfits and my home decor. So, it should come at no surprise when I say that I am stoked to see that the western style has become a big trend.

If you follow me on the regular then you probably already know I am a shoe addict and if I find a shoe with western vibes then I am totally smitten! Searching for a good western-style shoe is actually easier than you may think. Most people think it has to be your classic knee-high cowboy boot, but believe it or not the western trend has evolved to ankle boots, and even sandals and heels! Some of the key characteristics to look out for when searching for great western-style pieces: suede (really any leather is good, but suede gives off more of that worn-in western vibe that I love), turquoise stones, FRINGE (you can never go wrong with fringe, y'all), tooled leather (this is when designs are pressed into leather with a heated tool), conchos (these are usually silver or gold and, and lastly: beaded embellishments or Southwest prints.

If I have to pick one western-inspired style that I love and that I rock the most it's most definitely a good western-style ankle boot. It has to be suede and the shape has to look just like a classic cowboy boot style, but it has to hit at the ankle. When I saw these Crown Vintage Lachlan Chelsea Boots via DSW it was love at first sight. They are perfection when it comes to achieving the western-style vibe without looking like an actual cowboy -- and that's my number one tip for rockin' the western trend, y'all. You want the vibe to be effortless and not over-the-top or else it will look like a costume. The key is to pick 1-2 western-style pieces and to pair them with other non-western style items from your closet (think classic or minimal pieces). I based my look off of these western ankle boots and this fringe crossbody bag. They both have western flare, but aren't in your face. To balance the look I paired them with denim (such a classic and the perfect pairing for just about any on-trend look), a silk camisole (another closet staple) and a printed kimono. The cat-eye sunnies and gold accessories elevated my overall casual look. My outfit is the perfect mix of boho chic with a touch of western -- my favorite combo to wear! ;)

These western ankle boots are so chic and they come in 5 other colors! They look just as fab worn with dresses and skirts too! Oh, and I adore the worn-in look of them. They definitely resemble a good vintage boot I would find at a thrift store. The Crown Vintage brand is so good at making styles that are classic, yet trendy and they always have that vintage, worn-in vibe that y'all know that I love (I'm such a vintage lover). Crown Vintage is exclusive to DSW and the price point, just like all of DSW's brands and styles, is super affordable. DSW also carries styles from other hot brands, such as Steve Madden, Marc Fisher, and adidas (to name a few). You can even peep my last two posts (here and here) to see how I styled another shoe trend (also featuring shoes from DSW) for day and night.

DSW has shoes for the entire family, so whether you're looking to rock the latest shoe trend, or if you're after that timeless style that will take you from season to season, DSW is where it's at. They also make it easy to shop -- buy online or in store AND you can even order online and pick up in store.

So, I'd love to know if y'all are diggin' the western-wear trend as much as I am. And if so, how do y'all like to wear it? Please leave a comment below! I love hearing from my readers. :)
