CVS has always been my go-to drugstore – especially when it comes to shopping for beauty products! Not only does CVS carry some of the leading beauty brands (NYX, L’Oreal, Revlon etc.), they also have a new one-stop Cosmetic Wall that makes it easier than ever to shop any on-trend beauty must-have -- including makeup brushes! There's nothing more convenient than having the ability to pick up some new lipstick shades while I'm at CVS already shopping for items for the house (diapers, wipes, milk etc.). It's a one-stop-shop! I also love that CVS combines a great selection of on-trend beauty products (ones that I would find in a department or high-end makeup store), but they're all at affordable prices.
Now let’s move on to the best part of this post – the fun lipsticks!!
These days we’re seeing bold, holiday lips in all colors (not just the typical festive red), so I browsed my local CVS aisles and picked out 8 lip colors, ranging from light to bold.
Nude: Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in “Nude Thrill” – Creamy formula that dries to a nice, matte finish. Isn’t drying and stays put through time of wear. This shade would be great for a low-key holiday outing -or- it could be glammed up when accompanied with a bold, smokey eye! ;)
Pale Pink: Maybelline Colorsensational Matte in “Blushing Pout” – A creamy lipstick with a matte finish. Nice, buildable color. I'm always a fan of a good, pink lip hue and this pale one is perfect for everyday. I think it would be especially pretty paired with icier tones, like silver sequins or any metallic dress.
Mauve: Wet-n-Wild “Mauve Outta Here” -- A little more on the pink side, but super pretty. Creamy formula with an almost matte-like finish. The most affordable of the bunch! This color would look so pretty with that perfect holiday LBD.
Bright Pink: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in “HD Crush” – Cream formula and pretty bold color. Supposed to be matte, but it does have some shine compared to typical matte lipsticks. Pretty good staying power too! Since this color is super stand-out and fun, I think it deserves an equally dramatic outfit. I'd pair this lip with a metallic number (silver or gold) or even some fun sequins! It would be perfect for that holiday get-together with friends!
Berry: Burt’s Bees Lipstick in “Brimming Berry” – a nice, moisturizing formula and pretty berry hue. It’s buildable so you can wear it light or super bold. This color just screams holiday, and would look so pretty paired with jewel tones. I'd wear this to Church on Christmas Eve and then dinner with my family. :)
Wine: Rimmel London in “Oh-So Wicked” – the perfect vamp lip! Nice and moisturizing too! Since this color just exudes sex appeal I think it deserves a glam holiday look. I can see it pairing perfectly with a velvet dress of any hue! P.S. Velvet is SO IN this holiday season! ;) Wear this lippy out to grab drinks with friends or to a fun dinner party!
Violet: NYX Matte in “Aria” – my FAVE of all! A pretty plum hue that’s totally statement-making. It’s a fresh change from the typical wines or reds. It does wear off through time of wear (with eating, drinking etc.), but it leaves a pretty stain on your lips. This lip is super bold, so I think it can go either way -- pair it with a elegant, but simple look to let it pop -or- go all out and pair it with a stand-out ensemble. If you're looking to spice things up for your holiday festivities, this is my top pick! ;)
Classic Red: Milani in “Matte Kiss” – My first time trying Milani lipsticks and I am in love! A nice formula that glides on perfectly without feathering. Perfect matte finish without over drying. You can never go wrong with a classic red, so pair this with just about any holiday look. Just stay away from colors that will clash with the red -- i.e. wine hues, purples, etc. I think this color would be perfect with an emerald green dress or a bright red jumpsuit! A winter white look would also be super chic!
I mentioned this in my initial post with CVS, but I just have to mention it again: CVS has a 100% satisfaction Beauty Guarantee, so you can enjoy risk-free shopping! If you aren’t satisfied with your beauty purchase you can return it (open or unopened) along with your receipt for a full-priced refund – no questions asked! That definitely takes the intimidation factor out of shopping for beauty products.
Also, if you’re a CVS customer and you haven’t already signed up for the ExtraBucks® Rewards then I highly recommend it! You can get $5 ExtraBucks® Rewards for every $50 cumulatively spent on qualifying beauty products. I actually had a $5 ExtraBucks® Rewards coupon that I used on my purchase for these lipsticks. Why wouldn’t you join?!
So, which lipstick hue is your favorite? Are you a lipstick fan? What color(s) do you like to rock during the holidays? I’d love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below!
