Beating the Summer Heat With Pedialyte

Since quarantine, with the gyms being closed, my fiancé Michael and I had to improvise and figure out ways to achieve great workouts at home with very little equipment. We've enjoyed working out in our driveway in the mornings to get some fresh air, listen to some music, and feel the burn. As the temps started to rise, I began feeling a little nauseous either during or after my workouts. I decided to start drinking Pedialyte before, during, and after my workouts and immediately felt better. Not only did it help with my nausea, but I felt more hydrated. I also really loved the Iced Grape flavor, and so did my fiancé. He swapped his usual water for the Pedialyte AdvancedCare and was an instant fan. We both do intermittent fasting as well, so we both felt that the Pedialyte AdvancedCare was not only hydrating, but also easy to digest.

Since we've had to improvise, we've had to utilize things such as our beach cooler to use as a workout bench. Here are some of our go-to workout routines:

DIPS

PUSH UPS

BICEP CURLS

SPLIT LUNGES

PUSH UPS

SEATED KNEE TUCKS

GOBLET SQUATS

CRAB WALK W/ RESISTANCE BAND

Another way we've incorporated Pedialyte into our lifestyle is when we take our kids out for a day of fun in the sun! Living in Northwest Florida definitely has its advantages — to include our beautiful Emerald Coast and our subtropical temps. However, with our hot and sunny summers brings a lot of humidity, so heading to the beach or out on our boat is the best way for us to cool down. We purchased our first boat during quarantine for Covid-19, and it's been probably one of our best purchases to date. We try to take the boat out at least twice a week (if not more), and the best place for us to take it is Crab Island. It's a famous spot here in Destin, FL, where you can anchor your boat and swim about on a huge sandbar! It is so much fun, and the kids absolutely love it! Since we usually launch the boat around 10 and stay out on the water until the late afternoon, we have to make sure we stay extra hydrated and apply sunscreen liberally throughout the day to prevent sunburns.

Our cooler usually consisted of sandwiches, fruit, water, and some type of juice for the kids. However, once that brutal summer heat hit after Memorial Day weekend, we realized that water and juice just wasn't going to give us the hydration we needed while spending hours on the water in the hot sun.

During one of our routine grocery trips to our Publix Super Market at The Crossing in Niceville, FL, we saw that Pedialyte, a brand we used to purchase for our kiddos when they were babies, had new products: Pedialyte AdvancedCare® and Pedialyte AdvancedCare Plus. Pedialyte was always the best choice for us for preventing mild to moderate dehydration when our kids were sick, plus it was always peace of mind knowing it is the #1 doctor recommended brand for hydration. The Pedialyte AdvancedCare products contain PreActiv Prebiotics, which help promote digestive health, as well as electrolytes to prevent dehydration. I honestly never considered replacing our water or other sports drinks with Pedialyte when spending hours in the sun, but we were intrigued and wanted to see how the kids would like them.

We took our boat out to Crab Island, and an hour or so after lunch the kids were super thirsty, so we gave them each a Pedialyte AdvancedCare liter. Not only did they love the taste, but they preferred it over any other drink we've given them before — even over their favorite juice boxes! Pedialyte AdvancedCare not only tasted good to them, but it hydrated them quickly with an optimal balance of electrolytes and sugar. We love that these liters also contains zinc for immune support so it's an electrolyte solution that is really good for them.

As parents, I think that's a "win-win" for us, when our kiddos love the taste of something and it's great for their health. Now when we are headed to the pool, beach, or boat, they consistently ask if we are packing them their own bottle of Pedialyte AdvancedCare. They absolutely love the Cherry Punch flavor, and they can't wait to try the other flavors that are available, such as Strawberry Lemonade, Tropical Fruit, and Blue Raspberry!

So have you tried Pedialyte before? If so, are you a fan? The Pedialyte AdvancedCare and AdvancedCare Plus Base Liters are such a family fave for us and definitely will be in our fridge and coolers the entire summer! I'm also eager to try Pedialyte Base Liters and Powder Packs. They're perfect for on-the-go and are great for the days when we don't want to bring a big cooler. They're also great for the days when I want to hit the gym on my lunch break. Look for these great products in the Digestive Care or Baby Aisle and get 25% off any Pedialyte product at Publix from July 23rd to 29th!
