Holiday Makeup Look With Ulta: Metallic Eyes

The holidays are here and you can't complete a fun and festive outfit without a great makeup look -- especially when you're headed to a holiday party. I'm not a beauty expert, but I always love to experiment with makeup and sometimes it's fun to do a look that you normally wouldn't do. The holidays are for celebrating, right? So why not go extra bold?! Read on for the tutorial for this fun holiday look featuring pretty metallic eyes in my favorite shade: GREEN!

After I've finished my face makeup it's time for the eyes. I start off with NYX Eye Shadow Base from Ulta. It creates the perfect canvas for my eye makeup. I want my shadow to really pop, so the black will not only make the pigment of the shadow stand out more, but it will help it adhere to my eye much better for long lasting wear. I don't use any tools when applying this because the warmth of my finger really helps for an even application.

Now for the shining star of this makeup look: Urban Decay's Moondust Eye Shadow in "Zodiac" also from Ulta. If you've been a long-time follower of mine then you probably know that green is my favorite color of all, so when I saw this beautiful sparkly green shadow I knew I had to do a holiday look with it. Plus, green is just so perfect for the holidays anyways. It was a no brainer. I chose to apply this shadow with my finger because I felt I could control it better. I think applying it with my finger really helped to prevent any fall-out underneath my eyes and I had more control with building the color on my eyelids.

Can't forget to curl those eyelashes!

In my opinion, you can't have a bold eye look without a great mascara and my favorite of all-time is the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes also from Ulta. I have long lashes to begin with, but this mascara does such a great job of lengthening and providing thickness (without clumps). I always get stopped and asked if I am wearing falsies. It's really the best!

Now I know my eyes are super dramatic, so some people may opt for a neutral lip, but since it's the holidays I really wanted a stand-out look so I went with a bold lip color as well. I love wine hues during the winter months and this NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage from Ulta provides the perfect vamp lip! You know a lipstick shade is super popular when you have to visit the store twice because it keeps selling out. I love the suede finish and the sponge tip really help to achieve a flawless application. I also love the staying power of this lip color and that's a must for the holidays. You don't want to have to re-apply your lipstick throughout the night.

So, what do you think of my holiday look? I really loved the way it turned out and I can't wait to experiment more with this eye shadow. I think it would look great applied to only the crease of an eye for a smokey look, or applied to just the lashline as a festive eyeliner. I'd love to know if you've tried any of these products and/or if you have any go-to makeup looks for the holiday season. Leave a comment below and Happy Holidays! XoXo
